The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Billing Specialist opportunity, you will have:

* A bachelor's degree or solid college coursework in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred; we will also consider strong candidates who learned on the job

* 2 years of experience in revenue accounting and billing

* Accounts receivable and/or cash applications experience highly preferred

* Solid computer skills including:

* Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)

* SAP SD highly preferred

* Customer service or other customer-facing skills and experience

* Oil & Gas industry experience, ideally including experience with hydrocarbon sales agreements preferred

You will work from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, to facilitate communication with contacts in different time zones, including Hawaii. On occasion, you may need to stay later than 6 PM, though we are committed to maintaining a strong work/life balance for our employees.

The Role

Reporting to the Billing Manager, as Billing Specialist, you will be the 7th person on our growing Mid Office team including a mix of junior to senior talent responsible for billing, settlements, AR aging, cash applications and receivables. You will work in a flex role that, depending on your skills and experience, could interact with multiple locations/markets, including Hawaii and Wyoming. In performing your role, you will work primarily with your team members in Houston and Honolulu, and with internal departments, such as Operations, Marketing, IT and others. You'll also work directly with customers as needed (approximately 15% of the time).

Daily, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing AR accounts to ensure billings are issued and that payments are received in an accurate and timely manner. While the majority of your time will be spent on billing AR, you will also assist with and back up cash applications. More specifically, you will:

* Process billing in SAP through TMW software and direct SAP transactions, including resolution of errors, missing tickets and corrections

* Coordinate with Operations and Marketing to resolve pricing and other billing-related issues and discrepancies

* Communicate with offsite Billing for any billing corrections or adjustments

* Work closely with Contracts/Master Data/SAP IT resources to ensure proper setup of complex pricing formulas or special invoicing requirements

* Assist and back up with cash applications and collections

* Maintain an up-to-date billing system and ensure all billable charges are invoiced to clients each week and month

* Perform invoicing of the government for truck and pipeline movements along with freight

* Coordinate with Master Data group to create new customer and sales related data

* Assist in the monitoring customer accounts and AR balances

* Work on special projects, as assigned

* Perform other duties and take on additional responsibilities as assigned
