What You'll Do:
This job contributes to Janie and Jack's success by setting the
strategy and managing the company's tax accounting and reporting
processes. Tax responsibilities includes sales and local taxes,
personal business property tax, and income tax provision not a
requirement but a plus. The scope of responsibilities includes
managing tax compliance and audits, gathering and analyzing
supporting data, researching taxability and other issues, and
identifying process improvements.
The Tax Manager will develop a strategy and leading execution
against the strategy to evolve these functions' processes, policies
and capabilities. The leader in this position will help foster
continuous process improvement within their organization. Models

This position is based in San Francisco, California and has a
hybrid office/remote work schedule.
This position reports to the VP Controller and does not have any
positions reporting to it.
Manage all aspects of sales & use tax, property tax including
preparing, reviewing supporting schedules and returns, and filing
of sales/use tax returns and payment of related tax
Gather, reconcile and/or analyze source data for returns, audits,
and tax notices.
Manage sales & tax compliance by ensuring compliance with internal
controls, policies and procedures. Identify and implement best
practices and improve automation of key processes.
Maintaining tax calendar, and monitor nexus footprint and filing
requirements on an ongoing basis, including impact of changes in
business activities and laws. Monitor sales/use tax legislation for
relevant opportunities and issues.
Coordinates related reporting around period ends and works with the
accounting department to comply with all financial reporting
Manage use tax accrual process; claim and document manufacturing,
resale and other applicable exemptions; support Purchasing group on
use tax decisions.
Coordinate deliverables and data requests for Direct Tax. Assist
with preparing book-tax differences and tax provision computations,
related tax memo and required disclosures work paper and
Identify opportunities to improve and/or automate tax compliance
processes to increase efficiency and quality.

knowledge of sales and use tax rules on a multistate basis.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting +5 years and Tax. (CPA desired)
Previous experience working in Consumer Goods or Retail is a
Strong understanding of business operations and their accounting
Previous experience managing the tax accounting and reporting
BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field from nationally
MST, MAC or similar advanced degree preferred.
CPA license preferred.
7+ years of progressive state and local sales/use tax experience
with public accounting firm and/or multistate company, including
demonstrated management skills.
Proficiency with online tax research tools.
Proficiency with sales/use tax compliance software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with corporate ERP or accounting systems. (Dynamics 365
Familiarity with data wrangling and visualization tools.
