Job Description - Senior Economic Development Consultant (ECO00503) Senior Economic Development Consultant - ECO00503 CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Senior Economic Development Consultant to join our Economic Development Team, located in Houston, TX. - You will have the ability to: be responsible for developing and leading utility driven community and economic development initiatives in collaboration with regional stakeholders and utility leadership to improve local economies by attracting, expanding, and retaining industry within CenterPoint Energy's service territory. Responsible for generating significant near-term and long-term revenue opportunities through customer growth. Utilizes knowledge of economic development strategies to maximize customer attraction through the company's value proposition. Collaborate with community and government leaders to design programs that attract new industry and expand existing industry within the service territory. Meet with prospective customers both in the field and in the office to encourage site selection within CenterPoint Energy's service area to conduct their business and operations.     • Assist the Manager as point of contact for economic development opportunities, project coordination, and reporting. Ability to initiate, respond and complete economic development and customer projects.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of economic development programs and initiatives throughout CenterPoint Energy's service territory. Assist in the development of strategic business development plans identifying and communicating customer needs to ensure load growth, retention, and expansion.
    • Serve as primary contact in assigned territory for Economic Development Organizations (EDOs). Develops and leverages EDO relationships and leadership positions to align strategic planning and execution of EDO business activities with CenterPoint Energy's economic development strategy.
    • Assist EDOs in the development of proposals by providing estimates for electric and gas service costs and timelines in response to Requests For Information (RFI) initiated by site selectors and businesses. -
    • Within the geographically assigned area, responsible for coordinating economic development projects and leading activities related to providing energy service to prospective customers, including the involvement of internal and external stakeholders, EDOs, and state departments as necessary and for reporting all aspects of economic development activity.
      Your background includes: Education
      • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience
        • 5 years of work experience professional economic development or related field including business development, community relations, government affairs, or real estate relations.
        • Experience working in electric and gas utility industry in a capacity that deals with local governments and agencies, customer accounts, community groups, utility planning functions or public policy preferred.
        • Attainment of CEcD certification or desire to pursue CEcD certification preferred. This contractor and subcontractor shall abide by the requirements of 41 CFR - - 60-1.4(a), 60-300.5(a), and 60-741.5(a).
