The Tax Accountant will report to the Tax Manager and assist with domestic and international tax compliance and reporting for The Sterling Group, its affiliated management companies and private equity funds.We are a small group of highly motivated professionals dedicated to creating exceptional companies and being the best in class. This role is a great opportunity for the right person looking to advance their career with a wonderful company.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in managing the firm's international, federal, state and local tax compliance, including:Working directly with external "Big 4" tax advisorPreparing tax-related communicationsPreparing estimated tax projectionsPreparing tax provisions for blocker corporationsPreparing Forms W-9/W-8 and obtaining EINsReview Big 4 service providers' work for year-end k-1s and tax returnsReview -tax allocations of partnership incomeAssist in state tax issues including state tax withholding for fund entitiesAssist with required federal and state tax payments and trackingRegister for new accounts with various state and local governments as neededAssist with IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax noticesCoordinate collection of tax data from portfolio companiesAssist with continuous improvement of processes, policies, and proceduresDocument investment specific technical and compliance issues and reporting positionsAssist with international filings and preparation of applicable formsAssist compliance with FATCA and CRS policies, procedures, and reporting requirementsEnsure entity compliance with CT Corp for the Registered Agent, Delaware Annual Reports and Annual AuditsPrepare name change IRS letters, Forms 8832 and 8937Prepare Aircraft Disallowance calculationsAssist with FBAR and Business Personal Property Rendition filings, Fixed Assets, Transaction Cost analysis, USRPHC analysis and documentationDraft responses to Limited Partners' and Co-investor's tax inquiries and tax information needsAd-hoc analyses and assignmentsQualificationsAccounting or Tax degree from an accredited universityAt least 2 years of tax experience with a Big 4 accounting firmCPA or CPA candidateExperience with Partnership accounting and tax compliance preferred. Corporate tax experience is a plusHighest degree of personal integrity, judgment, and professional ethicsTech savvy and able to enhance use of systemsAbility to produce timely and accurate records, with an emphasis on the importance of supporting work paper documentationStrong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of the team to proactively identify and resolve issuesStrong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data to drive decision-makingHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detail, organized and methodicalAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic culture, with the ability to take initiative and be hands-onAbility to handle multiple demands, competing priorities, and constant change in a deadline driven environmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsThe Sterling Group is an operationally focused middle market private equity firm that builds winning businesses for customers, employees and investors.
