Job Description: Our client, a growing, privately owned and international organization in West Houston is growing rapidly. The company is seeking a Controller to join their management team, and to eventually grow into the CFO and COO. This company has growth through smart leadership and conservative business practices, and is looking for a leader to join their successful executive team. Specifically, this role will manage the accounting organization and has Controller roles and responsibilities. This position is over all operational accounting, financial reporting and process improvement for the accounting and finance functions and systems. This role reports to the President of the company and will have significant visibility with both internal and external audiences. This position manages a team of accounting and finance professionals in Houston and internationally and is responsible for hiring, firing, training and development of the team. Job Responsibilities: Will oversee all general accounting, financial accounting, and financial reporting activities. Responsible for all Management, bank and Board Reporting. Oversee the Treasury and Cash Management function, as well as maintaining effective relationships with banking partners. Oversee the annual Budget as well as all monthly Financial Analysis and Planning activities. Act as a liaison for the outsourced Tax function (planning and compliance). Responsible for all accounting systems, processes, and controls as well as all upgrades, implementations and ensures that the team utilizes corporate systems well. Oversee the annual audit and manage correspondence with external auditors. Work closely with the Executive and Operations leaders to support their efforts to organically grow the organization in an efficient and effective manner. Even though the Controller will be assisted by outsourced agency and office to data entry and regular postings of bills/receipts, the controller will be responsible for weekly and monthly reporting on the financial performance of the company in a structured manner. Requirements: Must have accounting and finance technical proficiency with a strong attention to detail including a 4 year Accounting degree. Must have a strong business acumen. Must have excellent communication skills and a superior ability to lead others and develop relationships. Must have a fiduciary mindset. Must have strong inventory accounting experience and expertise. Preference will be given to a CPA with an MBA. CPA required. The successful candidate should have ERP system experience, preferably with MS Dynamics 365. Should have exposure to generating MIS reports using tools like Power BI. Distribution and/or inventory related experience is desired. Experience in supply chain and international logistics functions will be preferred. Negotiation skills with vendors, bankers and institutions will be an essential skill set. 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience is required. Must be "hands-on" in the details but have proven managerial skills and the ability to motivate and manage teams that are in and out of Houston. Must be able to work fully in person in Houston, Texas
