Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:The Administrative Specialist II performs
standard and some advanced support/administrative duties. Basic
duties may include receiving, logging and interpreting information,
sorting and distributing mail, answering non-routine questions and
inquiries, providing information and directions and providing
customer-friendly environment. Processes all incoming/outgoing mail
and packages, answers phones, and orders and distributes copy
paper, stationary, and schedules to campus. ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS: Performs basic and some advanced administrative
support/clerical functions as requested, such as; performing a
variety of data entry functions, creating and maintaining files,
spreadsheets and databases, sorting and distributing mail,
preparing a variety of correspondence or documents with limited
direction, answering multiple phone lines, reviewing and organizing
a variety of data/documents/items to ensure efficient operations,
scheduling and coordinating meetings, etc. Uses a variety of
software in performance of duties, with a focus on Microsoft Office
Suite Verifies and conducts accurate data entry and processes
relating to assigned area Tracks and maintains office and general
operational supplies for department(s) Organizes and processes
office work in the absence of management Maintains and updates
department websites Participates in the daily oversight and
training of student assistants and part time staff Assists in
planning and setting up internal and external meetings and events
May assist with budget tracking Responsible for other reasonable,
related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Able to
make decisions in the absence of Management according to
departmental procedure Strong attention to detail Excellent
customer service skills Ability to use and learn a variety of
software products Ability to effectively and efficiently work on
multiple projects Ability to document expenses PHYSICAL
ABILITIES:The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits
comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking;
standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books,
or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical
demands are required to perform the work. WORK SCHEDULE AND
CONDITIONS: Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a
LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other
general office equipment Interface with internal and external
contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position Work
is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure
to safety hazards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or
GED and at least 2 years of related work experience, or an
equivalent combinations of education and experience PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree
Salary
Hiring salary range is $31,200 - $35,880.Lone Star College provides
a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty
positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is
determined by your related experience and education. Should you
