section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology in the Department of
Medicine is looking to recruit an Associate Professor at the Ben
Taub General Hospital and provide provide patient care services in
an outpatient clinic setting, endoscopy outpatient, and inpatient.
BCM is a premier medical school in Houston's renowned Texas Medical
Center. BCM's long partnership with Harris Health System includes
providing hundreds of BCM faculty and trainees. BTH is the main
Harris Health System hospital and one of the main BCM teaching
hospitals. - The Ben Taub Section is comprised of 12 faculty. The
successful candidate will work with the Ben Taub Chief of Medicine
and the BCM Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to set and
implement strategic priorities for the service line at Ben Taub
Hospital. The Chief's role is to expand the clinical mission,
research portfolio, education of fellows and oversee recruitment of
new providers as well as operational strategy for quality and
performance improvement. Candidates must be Board certified in
Gastroenterology, have at least 5-6 years of experience, and a
record of academic accomplishment and leadership experience that
would qualify them for the rank of Associate or full Professor of

expected to demonstrate competency in each of the following
areas:
--- See and evaluate new and existing patients in the clinical
setting, in addition to outpatient endoscopy sessions
--- Participate in the inpatient consult service at Ben Taub
hospital
--- Develop a treatment plan for patients
--- Physician productivity needs to meet or exceed the levels
established by the College.
--- Participate in all routine clinical meetings held with the
immediate work group.
--- Maintain required certifications and licensing.
--- Become familiar with Electronic Medical Record system, enter
data into EMR, and develop a level of competency to document all
patient encounters.
--- Complete all documentation in a timely manner to enable billing
operations.
--- Orders for diagnostic services and referrals to specialists.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Job Experience: Residency &
Fellowship training in Gastroenterology. Previous clinical
experience as a practicing gastroenterologist is preferred.Minimum
Certification/Licenses/Registration: License from Texas Medical
Board certification. Board required to practice medicine in the
