our Texas buildings practice that provides Buildings Architecture,
Interior Design, and Engineering services with a long history and
deep commitment to the education sector. Our award winning Texas
practice is well established and respected with all major Texas
institutions and we are looking for a team member to continue this
tradition and expand our reach.We are seeking a Business
Development Leader to grow our Higher Education practice in Texas -
strengthening bonds with clients, national teammates and our brand.
The successful candidate will be a recognized leader in the Higher
Ed market and will possess knowledge and communication skills to
grow our Higher Education business. The position requires the
ability to develop and nurture existing Stantec client
relationships as well as acquire new client relationships. This
role is primarily responsible for business development and service
delivery, and will have project responsibilities including client
management, project leadership, and technical guidance. In addition
to the external development, we are looking for a leader to inspire
our team, represent design, and reinforce the national brand of
Stantec.This individual will report to Texas Practice Leader and
will work closely with local and regional Buildings leadership
along with the education sector leadership to implement a full
strategic plan around the Higher Education sector in Texas.Y our
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Texas Leaders to develop and execute
strategies to maintain and grow relationships, opportunities and
promote design excellence
- Identify new project opportunities, lead/participate in
relationship building with Texas clients to capture new work,
lead/participate in RFQ process & interviews for new project
opportunities
- Identify, create and maintain potential market partnerships
(consultants, GCs and local architects)
- Eagerness to expand the company with new clients and sales by
winning design projects.
- Increase Stantec's industry profile through regular interaction
with potential clients and industry associates as well as
participating in industry organizations within the Texas
market.
- Develop and/or assist in defining overall team project pursuit
plan win strategy including strategic proposal development and
project team coordination to achieve business development and
financial goals.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing to secure new clients and
new work, including the preparation of proposals, interviews, and
presentations.
- Acts as an internal and external ambassador for the
firm.Strategic Responsibilities:
- Work closely with local Buildings leadership and Education
sector leadership to develop a strategic plan within Stantec's
global Education sector.
- Identify and following through on key hires, major project and
cross-regional pursuits including possible national client
accounts.
- Assist with the development annual business plan for the Texas
Higher Education market.
- Serve as a local leader to inspire our team, represent design,
and reinforce our Stantec brand.QualificationsYour Capabilities and
Credentials
- Strong business development skills, including significant
experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a
diverse client base.
- Strong seller, capable of generating work and creating
long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients
for Stantec.
- An entrepreneurial orientation with strong understanding of the
business development challenges of a consulting services
provider.
- Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals,
Expression of Interests, and Statement of Qualifications.
- Strong understanding of the Texas higher education market,
industry trends and industry leaders.
- Strong client relationship, leadership, and communication
skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Collaborative and able to work with a wide spectrum of
personalities.
- Comfortable in both leader and team-player roles.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage time
effectively.
- Must have a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrate proven track record of sales results.
- Ability to travel throughout Texas along with overnight
stays.
- Active in your community including conference
attendance/speaking engagements and/or active memberships in
associations (such as board posts and committee
memberships).Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Business, Marketing or
related field.
- 8 years of relevant business development experience -
experience marketing to colleges and university or in the
design/construction industry with architecture, engineering, and
