Recruiter NOV Location Houston, Texas Salary Competitive Posted 14 Nov 2019 Closes 14 Dec 2019 Ref ******* Sector Oil and Gas Category Design, Skilled Trades Contract Type Permanent Hours Full Time You need to sign in or create an account to save DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop customised customer-centric designs Plan and lead design small to medium sized projects as allocated by the Lead Engineer with some supervision Prepare cost estimates and ensure all designs assigned are completed within budget Ensure designs produced are efficient and cost effective, seeking to reuse existing designs and components wherever practical Prepare and check associated engineering documents in accordance with engineering group policy, (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations) Participate in sales contract reviews & internal design review meetings, being aware of commercial implications Attend and participate in client meetings, always ensuring customer care is the foremost priority Ensure all assigned deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements and established contract requirements Prepare Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification Develop and take part in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs Ensure Engineering Change procedures are implemented thoroughly, helping minimise disruption to the business at all times. Contribute to the investigation, resolution and documentation of Engineering queries including through Engineering Support functions in a timely and technically acceptable fashion Remain aware and involved in the latest developments within the industry and the greater engineering world to identify any potential concepts that could be incorporated into new designs Strive to keep network drives tidy at all times, avoid creating new folders or leaving temporary files in shared areas (5S) Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained Ensure accurate record keeping in relation to projects and time recording according to required schedule Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department including common areas Support other departments and business units both locally and globally and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager Travel required as dictated by project needs (worldwide travel) for client meetings, and to provide site installation, commissioning and testing support or other related activity as required Qualifications: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Strategic Able to understand, evaluate and apply technical information to problems Anticipates the impact of change and rises to the challenge, with the ability to accept risk and uncertainty Has solutions and suggestions that are effective in addressing the problem at hand Works to budgets, is able to understand the business needs and drivers from both customer & NOV sides Operating Adept at exercising good judgement (sometimes with incomplete information) whilst being constrained by tight deadlines, knows when to ask Always fully aware of personal workload, prioritise and organise to ensure deadlines are achieved Be willing to provide colleagues with the information they need to complete their tasks and eliminate roadblocks Be quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately Confidence Can be counted on to take personal responsibility in challenging situations and be willing to engage in disputes in order to settle them equitably Energy Will be energised by challenges and drawn towards opportunities Agile and energetic in work, eager to take up challenges both individually and as part of a team Organisational Confident and professional when representing the company in person and in writing Aspiring and keen to advance within the organisation Personal and Interpersonal A strong sense of customer focus (internal/external) A candid team player who collaborates with peers to solve problems Firm and diplomatic when negotiating Committed to self-improvement and development through the role in order to achieve career goals Quality Essential Desirable Qualifications: Bachelors in Engineering with minimum GPA of 3.0 or Associates in Engineering with relevant experience GPA at 3.5 or above. Experience: Experience in a similar position Working knowledge of leading small design projects within multi-disciplinary teams Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment Working knowledge of many of the following; The Energy Industry and operations, specifically Wireline Intervention and completion methods Wireline Intervention equipment including Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment or Subsea Christmas trees Wireline winches, masts and associated product designs Design of hydraulic, pneumatic or electro mechanical system design Using advanced FEA and similar mathematical analysis tools Preparing technical files complying with European Regulations. Skills, training or special knowledge Demonstrable understanding of engineering documents and drawings Working knowledge of FEA and supportive hand calculations / MathCAD Proficient user of 3D CAD Working knowledge of AutoCAD Working knowledge in structural and stress analysis; calculation by hand Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook) Working knowledge of ISO9001 and API Q1 Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, PLM/PDM data systems, FS2000, Ansys, Mathcad Design codes: API 6A, 5CT, 16, 17 and others, NACE, EC Directives and CE Marking, ASME, ATEX, Norsok, EN12079/DNV2.7-1, Puwer and Loler Quality Assurance Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area. Training Participate in training where required.
