Collins Aerospace is one of the world's largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. We design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems on the International Space Station (ISS). Our ISS contributions include the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (the space suit), the Water Processor Assembly, the Oxygen Generator Assembly, Thermal Control and Air Revitalization subsystems, and the Universal Waste Management System. We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead Integrated Product Development Team efforts, which include sustaining engineering of existing products and engineering development of new products. Primary Responsibilities - Managing assigned projects and tasks through significant milestones to provide technically sound products within program schedule and budget - Collaborating with a wide variety of functional areas inside and outside the organization to deliver results and be responsive to internal and external customer needs - Assuming responsibility for project leadership, execution, and customer contact - Creating technical plans with associated schedules and risk mitigation plans which ensure the timely delivery of error-free engineering products, services, and contract deliverables in strict compliance with company policy and procedures - Setting Product Development Team meeting agendas, leading team meetings and driving action item closures - Monitoring & controlling team work scope, including status and corrective action plans to meet schedule & cost challenges - Coordinating engineering change activities - Driving failure investigation activities - Resolving issues due to assembly, test, and procurement challenge - Ensuring that the requirements of the program's earned value management system are satisfied through the maintenance of performance metrics against an integrated program master schedule - Direct communication with customers will be required, including daily tag-ups and/or weekly meetings as required. Basic Qualifications - This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member - Prior experience in related Engineering discipline(s) - Experience with electro-mechanical hardware (e.g. dc motors, stepper motors, actuators, etc.) - Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills - Natural presence/comfortable presenting to internal and external customers - Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering staff - A desire to lead with the purpose of improving Integrated Product Development Team performance. - Ability to bring team members together and work problems to resolution - Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategize longer term projects - Strong computer skills, including MS Office and MS Project - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of relevant experience OR - Advance from degree from an accredited institution and 3 years of relevant experience OR - In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required - Must be a US Citizen - This position performs NASA Safety Sensitive work.
