Evaluates and plans wastewater systems using different tools and techniques including advanced computer models, Business Analytics (BI) and Geographical Information System (GIS). Identify, evaluate, recommend, and plan for improvements of operations, procedures, facilities and systems. Performs and reviews engineering computations. Develops and designs conceptual utilities layouts, drawings, etc. Reviews, research, analyze, internal and external data, prepare various records, and reports. Reviews and evaluates service requests. Investigates public inquiries and prepares responses. Coordinate engineering activities in all disciplines (i.e., Water, Wastewater, Traffic, Street & Bridge and Storm Water). --Requires ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maybe required to operate a City of Houston vehicle.WORKING CONDITIONSThis position is physically comfortable; the individual has some discretion about walking, standing, bending, lifting etc.--This is a Houston Public Works Department position at the Tier III Level.Job Requirements:MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS--Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with satisfactory standing;ORRequires graduation from an engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight-hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.--MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSFour years of active practice in engineering work after graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering are required. ----Substitution: A Master's degree in Engineering may be substituted for up to two years of the above experience requirement.--MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTSRequires registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. A specific branch of engineering (such as civil, mechanical, structural, etc.) may be required.May require a valid Texas Driver's License and be in compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving. (A.P. 2-2).

  • Knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, wastewater system asset management and database use.----
  • Possess a working knowledge of wastewater engineering, underground public utility infrastructure, hydraulic modeling, GIS, and programming.----
  • Hands-on experience on building and applying hydraulic models for problem solving using ICM, database and BI.----
  • Ability to work with advanced features of Microsoft Office suit including Power BI. ------
  • Possess technical expertise on planning level plans, specifications, technical reports and Improvements., conduct meetings, coordinate and manage consultants.
