Check us out on ERC.US Your role: The Fluids/Mechanical Engineer will join our team with GeoControl Systems, Inc., a Jacobs Engineering teammate company. What you'll do all day: Support Johnson Space Center's activities in support of NASA Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD/EC) Work in a team environment to analyze requirements from the customer and develop design solutions Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products and systems Perform engineering designs and evaluations for thermal vacuum space simulation testing Produce engineering drawings conforming to JPR 8500 and other applicable standards Work with JSC Pressure Systems personnel to complete Pressure Systems Design Reviews Prepare and present designs at various engineering design reviews Prepare work authorizing documents (WADs) required to support the installation of hardware into manned vacuum/thermal vacuum chambers Apply engineering principles and techniques to create solutions to equipment, building, and infrastructure challenges Prepare engineering specifications, statements of work, and estimates for a wide range of facility related projects Prepare, submit & track all phases of procurement, inspection, fabrication & installation into manned chambers Coordinate and lead Mechanical Engineering designers, stress engineers and drawing checkers to complete detailed fabrication drawings Express good leadership qualities, be highly motivated, well organized, and capable of working within a closely-knit team Perform other duties as required You will love this job if you: Are a self-starter and require little oversight to complete given tasks Enjoy a fast-paced work environment Love working with diverse groups of individuals, including engineers and technicians Are good at communicating with people Have a positive attitude Enjoy multitasking Minimum requirements for this position: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Minimum of five (5) years' experience BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school Experience in cryogenic systems, vacuum systems, thermal-vacuum test chambers Familiarization with Liquid Nitrogen, Helium, and Oxygen Systems Maintain facility cryogenic systems (LN2, 20K Helium Refrigeration) to support thermal-vacuum testing Maintain facility vacuum systems (roughing, cryopumps, turbopumps) to support thermal-vacuum testing Ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team Ability to coordinate in a team environment to meet project milestone design reviews and integration Maintain configuration control for all phases of project Knowledgeable and experienced in the following: MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, Inventor or PTC Creo or other similar CAD Software packages Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision Ability to respond well to the demands of working in a Thermal Vacuum Testing environment Ability to communicate, build relationships, be proactive, and work with a team Excellent oral and written communication skills Support work extended hours and weekends to meet customer test schedules Desired skills and experience for this position: Familiarization with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures Understand MS Project schedules and report the status to the project manager Experience with NASA's Engineering Drawing System Manual, JPR 8500.4 is a plus Presentation skills are highly desired Design of mechanisms interfacing with Space Suit and Space Suit Systems is a plus What we offer: Competitive salaries.
