Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc. manufactures heavy duty commercial marine propulsion and thrusters. All thrusters are developed in-house by a complete engineering department for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic design.
Job Opening: Customer Service Support Engineer
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES -As Customer Service Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical answers to customers and field service personnel in a timely manner, preparing technical proposals for the Customer Service department, as well as associated cost summaries of equipment, spares, and service costs; preparing the proposed technical drawings; and providing associated technical direction to Field Service personnel implementation of proposals.

  • Interface with customer and engineering to resolve technical issues. -
    • Develop detailed technical plans for in field and Houston based projects. -
      • Provide technical support to field service, engineering, sales and project management. -
        • Prepare representative technical drawings and specifications for use in field service plans. -
          • Respond to technical questions and requests from customers and make associated technical changes to proposals; conduct site visits to the customer to present the proposal and participate in closing field service work. -
            • Provide technical assistance to project engineers during the design of the product, especially regarding changes in the equipment configuration.
              • Review and analyze potential projects; select and propose products in accordance with the customer's technical requirements or Request for Proposal (RFP).
                • Perform technical requirements development, analysis of alternatives, design reviews, tradeoff studies, and engineering analyses, including other technical, acquisition and programmatic functions as required.
                  • Prepare technical documentation for training customers and field service representatives. -
                    • Assist in producing, tracking, and reviewing the status on Corrective Action Requests, Engineering Change Notices, and any other related quality improvement documentation and tracking. -
                      • Support commissioning and major overhauls as a supervisor, superintendent, and or project manager as needed. -
                        • Assist with the development and editing service reports and take a lead in the root cause analysis efforts. -
                          • Prepare technical documentation for work procedures and maintenance programs for equipment as needed. -
                            • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by department manager.
                              TRAVEL PERCENTAGE AND DURATION
                              Travel for this position is medium to heavy (up to 15% or more travel on an annual basis.
                              MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
                              • Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture, Marine or Mechanical Engineering or any related engineering or technical discipline; -
                                • Five (5) years overall experience with two (2) years specific experience in design or installation of marine propulsion systems; and -
                                  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks and Microsoft Project, Excel and Word.
                                    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
                                    • Master of Science in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or any related engineering or technical discipline; -
                                      • Ten (10) years overall experience with five (5) years specific experience in design or installation of marine propulsion systems; and -
                                        • Proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks and other naval architecture software such as FASTSHIP, SMP, GHS, HydroComp, Microsoft Projects including experience with commercial and military design standards. - -This position is a direct hire. -Thrustmaster of Texas is an equal opportunity employer.
