Job Description:
Summary:The Design Engineering Supervisor will be tasked with
creating processes, work standards, and manage the workload within
the Design Group. The incumbent will be responsible for performing
checking duties on drawings, assisting with incoming inspections
and associated work specifications and working towards maintaining
ISO certifications. This person should have a strong understanding
of the manufacturing process, as well as, the key factors that
control the form, fit and function of a bearing.Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance & training to other Design Engineers and
Drafters.
- Develop, review & maintain design standards & work
procedures.
- Responsible for workload management & coordination to meet
deadlines necessary to support the company's commitments to
customers and manufacturing.
- Monitor & report company KPIs for the Design group.
- Participate in and contribute to process improvement and design
for manufacturability activities.
- Preparation of engineering project proposals as needed.
- Participate with incoming part inspections and definition of
repair needs
- Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving
client/engineering and management project issues as needed.
- Support engineering and customers with preparation of technical
assessment reports.
- Support manufacturing personnel with evaluations of deviated
components, corrective action investigations and other quality
related activities.
- Support engineering process development and design for
manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed
by Engineering Management
- Creation of 3D models and associated 2D drawings
- Creation of Item and Part Structure (BOM) information within
ERP system
- Develop and maintain 3D model and 2D drawing database within
Product Data Management (PDM) system via Engineering Change Notice
(ECN) process.
- Perform checking duties on assembly and component level
drawings.
- Updates existing drawings to current/best manufacturing
processes.
- Independently responsible for meeting deadlines necessary to
support the company's commitments to customers and
manufacturing.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a design engineer plus 2
years of leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and Design
Practices
- Expert in 3D modeling software
- Experience with leading and/or training engineering team
members
- Experience with leading Continuous Improvement/Lean projects or
events, preferred
- Requires the ability to utilize precision measuring and
surveying instruments such as calipers, inside/outside micrometers,
depth gages, surfaces gages, etc.
- Experienced with precision design and manufacturing
processes.
- Must have a strong attention to detail
- Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize project
timelines
- Experience reading & developing engineering design prints with
geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
- Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills.Physical Requirements:The physical

- Office environment. Travel, some overnight 10-15%.
