We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Development Facilities Engineer - Net Zero Field in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Delaware Basin Business Unit based in Houston, Texas. Responsibilities:

  • Build and optimize long-range field development scenarios, including contingencies, with flexibility to align with strategic corporate business objectives as needed. Apply decision quality analysis principles to ensure plan is robust and risks are assessed and mitigated.
  • Address uncertainties, obligations, limitations, and business objectives including Net Zero and carbon management efforts associated with those scenarios
  • Administer and facilitate Enersight Scope 1 and 2 emissions calculations and forecasts for all areas.
  • Generate facilities-constrained forecasts (all fluid streams, electrical demand, possibly frac water balance).
  • Support demand planning, business planning, supply chain management, and permitting efforts.
  • Accountable for reviewing upcoming development packages and generating facilities and infrastructure plans to accommodate the forecasted production of oil, water, and gas.
  • Accountable for generating project BODs to hand over to the Facilities and Construction Team for execution and Well Connect Requests (WCRs) for 3rd -party gatherers.
  • Ensure Field Development Plans provide transparency on CO2e impact and balance with other corporate objectives.
  • Find creative and innovative solutions to reach corporate sustainability and business goals. Drive results of new technology application, staying closely connected with the Low Carbon Ventures organization and Prod Ops special teams.
  • Share all learnings and methodologies widely and prepare to mentor and influence across business units.
  • Flexibility to oversee execution of special projects related to technology trials for emissions detection, reduction, or carbon offset (CCUS/EOR/CCS).
  • Generate capital estimates on all projects and support the annual Business Plan process.
  • Coordinate with Surface Planning and Surface Land on designing and optimizing flowlines, oil/water/gas gathering, gas lift and electrical infrastructure for the Life-of-Field development of Oxy's assets.
  • Support Mineral Land, Surface Land, and Regulatory Teams with external stakeholders on questions and discussions, such as surface commingling and shared facilities. Support efforts to secure needed easements, ROWs, and permits.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Team and Facilities and Construction Team to request assistance from and provide information to support groups (Electrical/SCM) in support of procuring long-lead items
  • Interface with members of the Well Analysis and Design Team and Subsurface Characterization Team to address development requirements, facility constraints, and assist with field development plan implementation.
  • Support development of facilities standards that would benefit the entire organization
  • Effectively collaborates and acts as a liaison between the Development Team, Asset Team, and Facilities and Construction Team Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
    • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in facilities engineering and design of onshore oil and gas production, conditioning, and processing facilities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to safety, including safety considerations in engineering design, recommendations, and operability
    • Enersight knowledge and experience.
    • Demonstrated ability & desire for effective verbal and written communication within a multidiscipline team environment
    • Outstanding collaboration, integration, and communication skills.
    • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information and within the time required
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
    • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision and direction
    • Proficiency in hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, and system design
    • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite software
    • Proficiency in or ability to learn applicable technical and economic analysis software
    • Ability to anticipate and navigate complex problems and issues
    • Strong collaboration, communication, and decision-making skills
    • Comfortable and effective dealing with ambiguity and fluid plans based on business needs
    • Working knowledge of the following in context of upstream oil and gas operations:
      • OSHA Process Safety Management elements and typical safety program requirements
      • Industry codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Section 8, Div. 1 Pressure Vessel Code, etc.)
      • Typical rotating and stationary equipment
      • Typical materials of construction
      • Process control elements and systems Additional Desired Qualifications:
        • Unconventional and/or EOR experience a plus
        • Working knowledge of reliability engineering principles and life cycle cost analysis.
        • Working knowledge of corrosion engineering principles.
        • Working knowledge of CO2 separation technology application.
        • Formal training and work experience in project management.
        • Working knowledge of procurement systems and contracting.
        • Ability to represent the company's interests with vendors and contract technical staff
        • Working knowledge of typical onshore oil and gas construction practices
        • Working knowledge of the following in context of upstream oil and gas operations:
