FUNCTIONSAssists in the evaluation of existing and proposed assets,
policies, practices, standards, and future projects, as they relate
to operations and maintenance (O&M) for the City's potable
water system. Engages in plan reviews, meetings, contract
management, coordination, water quality tracking, regulatory
compliance, and special projects as needed. Is highly
self-motivated, and utilizes excellent engineering judgement in
problem identification, assessment, and proposal of solutions.
Employs software and hardware as assigned in order to achieve
efficiency in job duties. Works collaboratively with internal and
external stakeholders. Provides technical assistance in the
administration and supervision of municipal Capital Improvement
Projects. Assists with preparation and review of
design/construction contracts, plans, specifications, technical
reports, invoices and pay estimates, supplemental
agreements/appropriations, change orders, requests for information
and requests for council action. Performs periodic inspections of
construction work and reports on status of construction, potential
problems and contract compliance. Attends and participates in
design/construction progress meetings. WORKING CONDITIONS The
position is physically comfortable: the individual has some
discretion about walking, standing, bending, lifting, etc. This is
a Houston Public Works Department position at the Tier II
Level.
