Firmware Program Manager
Client Business Personal Systems Group develops computing solutions
and experiences aimed at the Small / Medium Business (SMB) and
enterprise customers. The Firmware Engineering Group is seeking a
highly motivated and passionate leader to join Firmware PMO Team as
a Firmware Program Manager. The successful candidate will work in
an exciting, high profile, team-oriented, and fast-paced
environment and working closely alongside engineers and system
teams. Ideally, you have a background in firmware and software,
with some hardware and have expert ability to understand the
technical intricacies of each new technology.
You will support a cross functional team and is responsible for
planning, collaborating, and communicating new technologies serving
as a bridge between between internal and external stakeholders,
including Engineering R&D and System teams. You will refine the
requirements and distributes work into logical customer valued
deliverables, and opportunistically identifies synergies with
Client's existing systems Additionally, you will also manage
communication with senior executives, ensuring on-time delivery or
escalations as necessary and support organizational strategy.
This Program Manager position supports a cross functional team that
creates, designs and develops BIOS firmware for Client Business
Desktops and Notebooks. The main objective of this position is to
act as an Agile champion to a firmware development team as well as
manage projects .
Additional responsibilities include:
--- Ensure that scrum process is followed, and the backlog is
executed per priorities set by the Product Owner
--- Track and report metrics, program risks, issues and status to
senior management
--- Coordinating activities across software teams, firmware teams
and other functional teams
--- Lead documentation efforts related to new development
Description:
The Program Manager is responsible for leading a matrix team
through the engineering development process for business notebook
and desktop PCs. As an Engineering Program Manager, you will:
--- Use Agile Principles to deliver firmware for business notebooks
and desktop PCs
--- Develop and/or direct development of schedules, critical
deliverables, resource allocation plan and other support
requirements for firmware projects
--- Act as an Agile/Scrum leader to a firmware development team:
monitor and enforce the scrum process, clear impediments, lead
scrum ceremonies and assist in resolving team conflicts
--- Track, prioritize and maintain observations/defects
--- Lead end customer documentation efforts associated with
firmware development
--- Manage activities of supporting project teams and internal
development partners; ensures progress against established plan and
make determinations based on analysis of business information to
alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product
requirements and development schedule
--- Communicate program progress, escalations and issue analysis to
product stakeholders; collaborates with management and
manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement
changes to product, processes, or business practices
--- Manage design change processes to support customer requests,
lead coordination and communication efforts with wider teams with
impact analysis and recommendations.
--- Drive innovation and integration of new technologies and
quality initiatives into projects and activities in the
manufacturing and/or engineering organization
--- Mentors less-experienced staff members
Qualifications:
--- Education & Experience
o Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or
equivalent
o Direct Scrum Master experience required
o Hands on firmware engineering development experience is
desirable
o Agile certification desirable
o PMP/PMI Certification desirable
o Minimum 6-10 years' experience
--- Knowledge and skills
o Self-starter, able to lead and influence a diverse team and can
work effectively across cultural and time zone boundaries
o Strong organization skills
o Strong communication skills, capable of bridging highly technical
teams with management and support teams
o Experience delivering complex software programs using Agile
Principles
o Experience with security software is a plus
o Experience with firmware development is a plus
o Ability to work complex projects while identifying and resolving
problems independently or as a contributing team member
o Extensive experience with using MS DevOps, program planning tools
and software packages to create, manage, and track project
results
o Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
o Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing
all aspects of programs, including briefing of executive
management, negotiating with business groups, communicating with
stakeholders and directing matrix teams and resources
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in
English and local language
o Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and
results and negotiate options at senior management levels
