Job Description:
Job Summary:
This position will function in the traffic group with a primary
role to assist in reviewing, designing, and or managing
projects.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides technical and engineering support, including technical
proposals and cost estimates.
- Performs traffic and transportation systems analysis, planning
and design. These include Traffic Impact Studies, Corridor Traffic
operational studies, Capacity and LOS analysis, Access Management
Studies, Traffic Signal, signing, striping, intersection
improvements, ITS and traffic control plan design.
- Ensure deliverables meet client's preference, Engineer
Department's standards, regulatory compliance, and permitting
requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills and
abilities:
- Must have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Experience using SYNCHRO, VISSIM, HCS and similar modeling
software is preferred.
- Experience with CADD software.
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
- TxDOT precertification in applicable categories. Work
Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This
role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers,
phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- The performance of this position may occasionally require
exposure to the construction areas, which may require the use of
personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side
shields and mandatory hearing protection, etc. Education,
certification and experience:
- 2-5 or more years' experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- EIT Required or FE Certification.
- Strong interest in traffic engineering and transportation
planning.
- Ability to work effectively independently or in a team
environment.
Physical Requirements:

- This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties
of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate
project plans both orally and in writing.
- The employee is occasionally required to move about the office
to operate office productivity machinery or maneuver through a
construction site safely.
- May require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and
bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10
pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus.
