Summary/Objective:
The Diesel Mechanic will maintain/repair all types of company-owned
vehicles, including Gasoline, Diesel, Electric and Propane powered.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic
malfunctions, and efficiently repairs the same.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years Diesel Mechanical experience and/or
training.
- High-Velocity Industrial Vacuum Equipment knowledge is
mandatory.
- Capability to perform electrical wiring.
- Must have own basic tools. Company will provide the expensive,
specialized tools.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Technical Institute Training or equivalent work experience and
training is not a must, but favorable.
- High Pressure Jetting Equipment knowledge is a plus.
- Current CDL and TWIC card a plus as you may be required to
travel.
- Strong communication skills, both internally and
externally.
- Basic understanding of OSHA, Fire Protection regulations, fall
protection.
- Follow all Safety, Personal Protective and Equipment Policies.
Duties:
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting and put together repair
plans.
- Computer diagnostic experience a plus but not mandatory.
- DOT inspections understanding.
- Evaluate the Performance of all drive train component work on
diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, steering systems.
- Ability to install, adjust or align brakes, and wheels and
wheel components such as bearings and air brake and valve systems
to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
- Knowledge of air/electric/hydraulic brake and valve systems to
diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
- Knowledge of vehicle body control systems including
electronics, AC, and hydraulic systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on all units as
scheduled.
- CDL and TWIC cards are a plus.
- High Pressure Jetting Equipment knowledge is a plus.
- High-Velocity Industrial Vacuum Equipment knowledge is
mandatory.
- Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor. Types of Equipment:
Light/Medium and Heavy-Duty Trucks Diesel Engines, Cat/Cummins
Engines, Transmissions, 12/24 Volt vehicle electrical systems/Water
Blasting Equipment/Heavy Duty Vacuum Trucks/Air Machines.
Responsibilities:
- Perform computer diagnostics, troubleshooting and put together
repair plans.
- DOT inspections and ability to evaluate performance of all
drive train component work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and
trucks, steering systems.
- Repairs, on a minor and/or emergency basis, parts of bodies,
i.e., doors, landing gear, etc.
- Ability to install, adjust or align brakes, and wheels and
wheel components such as bearings and air brake and valve systems
to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
- Knowledge of air/electric/hydraulic brake and valve systems to
diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
- Adheres to strict safe working practices, Company policies,
rules, regulations, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports
to supervisor if not immediately correctable.
- Knowledge of vehicle body control systems including
electronics, AC, and hydraulic systems light/Medium and Heavy-Duty
Trucks Diesel Engines, Cat/Cummins Engines, Transmissions, 12/24
Volt vehicle electrical systems/Water Blasting Equipment/Heavy Duty
Vacuum Trucks/Air Machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all units as scheduled and
other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting to 50 lbs., physically able to
handle large tools.
- Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and
descend a ladder.
- Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl. Perform all essential
job duties.
- All weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high
temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain,
fog, hail, sleet, and snow.
- Daylight, twilight, evening, and dark lighting conditions.
- Noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes.
- Work hours will vary daily due to business needs
