As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be part of a healthcare product team; focused on developing and implementing methods to improve data generation and reliability. You will be a key team member, focused on developing foundational data-pipelines for downstream analytics. You will split your time between two key functions within the Optum International Infrastructure team. Primary Responsibilities:

• Providing backups and restores as required to support release management activities
• Building Azure Data services to support development activities (Azure SQL Server, ADF, Databricks) and some on-premise Microsoft SQL Database servers
• Ensuring that all environments meet the Azure Security and Optum International Database policies
• Monitor Data usage and Maintain efficient Azure costing models
• Provide recommendations to the development team regarding query optimisation
• Maintenance and patching of the on-premise Microsoft SQL Database servers
• Migrating data between environments and documentation of infrastructure
• Supporting BI packages
• Servicing requests for information
• Backups and day to day monitoring for issues, alongside support requests
• Continual improvement programs Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and above.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following:
    • Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services
    • SQL Backup and Restore Operations
    • Install and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server
    • SQL Server Replication
    • Always on availability groups and clustering
    • SQL Server Log Shipping
    • SQL Security
    • Certificate Management
    • Documentation
    • Hands-on experience developing data pipelines that demonstrate a strong understanding of software engineering principles. Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience building data pipelines on either AWS, Azure or GCP, following best practices in Cloud deployments
      • Understanding of system hardening, and threat and vulnerability management
      • Data migration projects / Dev-ops / Data-Dev-Ops
      • Query Optimisation
      • Azure SQL PaaS and/or Azure Data Factory
      • ARM / Terraform
      • Other RDBMS technologies (such as Postgres or MySQL)
      • Redgate tools
