Job Summary
The Mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities

• 
  
• 
  Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  
  
• 
  Operates a mobile mechanic truck to repair vehicles and equipment at project sites.
  
  
• 
  Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
  
  
• 
  Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, check tires and brakes, replace spark plugs, and other similar tasks.
  
  
• 
  Electrical system repairs such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
  
  
• 
  Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  
  
• 
  Perform further tests which may include test driving vehicles to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  
  
• 
  Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
  
  
• 
  Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
  
  
• 
  Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles.
  
  
• 
  Performs other related duties as assigned.
  
  
  Required Skills/Abilities:
  
  • 
    
  • 
    Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle and equipment repair.
    
    
  • 
    Excellent mechanical repair skills.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to weld and repair steel components.
    
    
  • 
    Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to use power and hand tools.
    
    
  • 
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to read service and repair manuals.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
    
    
  • 
    Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish speaking).
    
    
    Education and/or Experience
    
    • 
      
    • 
      Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
      
      
    • 
      High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
      
      
    • 
      Master technician certification preferred.
      
      
    • 
      Three to five years of related experience preferred.
      
      
      Physical Demands

      • 
        Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
        
        
      • 
        Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
        
        
      • 
        Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
        
        
      • 
        Must possess the ability to stand for long periods of time.
        
        
      • 
        Must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
