include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services,
international tax services, state and local tax services, private
wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation,
not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
The State and Local Tax Managing Director interacts with national
and regional leadership to drive local SALT initiatives that feed
into broader regional and national goals for an International
Accounting Firm. The SALT MD has an assigned client base in various
industries and is responsible for the delivery of a full range of
SALT services in Income/Franchise tax. In addition, the SALT MD is
responsible for marketing, selling, designing and implementing SALT
planning strategies for clients in various industries. The SALT MD
maintains close interaction with clients to provide planning,
consulting, and compliance expertise and is responsible for client
management and practice and people development of local SALT
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and
CEO's of current and potential clients.
Effectively manage existing client relationships to enhance client
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to sell services to
existing and potential clients.
Effectively manage the fundamentals (i.e., realization,
utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, expenses)
Successfully integrate industry initiatives with local office
Serve as an effective leader of the Direct SALT tax practice.
Engage in productive interaction and teaming with office, regional,
and national leadership.
Use knowledge of the client, competition, market, product, or
service to expand SALT services to current clients.
Utilize the appropriate firm resources to develop and close sales
opportunities that fit within the firm strategy.
Promptly identify problems related to financial performance and
implement effective solutions to address financial performance
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an MS in Taxation.
CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation.
At least ten years of progressive Income/Franchise tax
consulting/compliance experience in public accounting or a
combination of corporate and public accounting experience.
Experience in a medium- to large-sized public, regional, or
national accounting firm.
Demonstrated track record of effective leadership. Majority of
experience should be developing business with domestic corporate
clients in the middle market.
Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team
environment and manage multiple engagements and competing
