On average, Plains handles more than 6 million barrels per day of crude oil and NGL in its Transportation segment. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.The Manager, Business Relationship Management (BRM) will provide day-to-day leadership of the BRM team whom serve as the relationship link between business stakeholders and Information Services (IS). The individual in this role builds successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define opportunities, identify, and prioritize all IS demand based on predefined criteria in alignment with the business and technology strategy and future state architecture. Also, the Manager oversees the strategic interface with areas of the business for the purpose of business capability identification and development as an input into solution discovery, identifying areas to improve service management, technology risk management, and monitoring the level of satisfaction with IS service and performance. This position defines the anticipated value of planned work and ensures work is effectively prioritized into portfolios which meet both business and technology strategy desired capabilities and outcomes. The Manager, Business Relationship Management leads a team of 8 trusted Specialists and Analysts and reports to the Director, Business Relations and Portfolio Management.Responsibilities:Maintains and Strengthens Business Relations

  • Manages the BRM team to deliver the strategic interface with business units for the purpose of business/IS strategy development and alignment.
  • Leads and guides the BRM team to partner with business units and IS Solution Delivery to facilitate the documentation of and ongoing revisions to 3+ year technology roadmaps in alignment with functional strategy/goals.
  • Ensures the value and quality delivered by the BRM team in executing improvement projects, complete benchmarking exercises, research trends related to process & technology, develop and deploy KPIs, and complete business value assessments (BVAs) to inform technology related or non-technology related decisions.
  • Manages the sharing of technology risks knowledge and opportunities to build a competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business units.
  • Serves proactively as a "trusted advisor," and is the primary point of contact from IS for business line executives, managers and key contacts and represents IS in selling IS services and capabilities.
  • Leads the BRM team to ensure Plains understands business units' high-level desired business capabilities, associated business value, and are able to translate those capabilities as an input to IS Solution Delivery.
  • Works closely with the IS Portfolio & Planning team to categorize demand and report on portfolio progress/outcomes/benefits.
  • Partners with Business Architects to incorporate technology strategy & architecture into roadmaps and internal consulting work.
  • Collaborates with the IS Architecture & Strategy team and the Continuous Improvement team on improvement projects related to organizational convergence, process improvement, and other ad-hoc value add initiatives.
  • Enables long term IS resource planning by reinforcing alignment between future IS and business resource needs to balance expectations, priorities, and investment required to meet business needs in the future.Manage Performance and Develop Talent

    • Set clear expectations, provide resources, give direction, and help employees to focus on and prioritize their goals
    • Conduct ongoing conversations, including coaching, feedback, and check-ins.
    • Seek to keep employees engaged by looking for opportunities where employees can use new skills and participate in challenging assignments
    • Conduct developmental conversations, create a development plan, and provide developmental activities for employees to growQualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, business or a related field, or equivalent work experience
      • 10+ years of IT experience with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a business relationship management role and executing strategic plans, and/or project portfolios
      • Consultancy background is preferred
      • A minimum of 4 years management experience and the ability to work effectively with business managers and stakeholders. Ability to develop and guide team members.
      • Ability to interact with Plains personnel, build strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understand business focus and initiatives.
      • Demonstrated leadership skills in the areas of strategic planning and decision making, navigating ambiguity, and building trusting relationships
