  • Work-from-home daysCommunity Relations Director/Event PlannerReports to: Executive Director/CEOStatus: Salaried, 30 hours per week.JOB SUMMARY: Community Relations Director/Event Planner for Summerhouse Houston (SHH) assists the Executive Director and the board of directors in coordinating and developing fundraising strategies and events, oversight and coordination of a robust volunteer program, marketing/PR, and community outreach for the organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Plan and execute special event fundraisers and donor stewardship events to benefit SHH, including:
    • Work with board and staff to create concept
    • Procure donations and sponsorships
    • Develop budget and manage expenditures
    • Secure location, food/drinks, and activities/entertainment
    • Develop guest lists and invitations and market the event
    • Secure and oversee volunteers/planning committee
    • Follow up with guests and donors after the event
    • Maintain ongoing contact with major donors to steward relationship
    • Evaluate effectiveness of event fundraising strategies and adjust as needed
    • Develop and oversee a volunteer program in support of SHH's programmatic and administrative operations, including:
    • Act as main point of contact for prospective and active volunteers
    • Develop and oversee recruitment strategies
    • Manage volunteer applications and keep up with volunteer contact information
    • Interview, orient, place, and provide ongoing support to volunteers
    • Assist Program Director with volunteer training and scheduling for Program volunteers
    • Manage volunteer policies and procedures
    • Evaluate effectiveness of volunteer strategies and adjust as needed
    • Represent SHH to various constituencies, including:
    • Chambers of commerce or other professional groups to recruit donors, volunteers, or other stakeholders
    • Transition or resource fairs to recruit members
    • Provide tours to prospective members as needed
    • Perform other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS1. The candidate should possess:a. A Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus three (3) to five (5) years' experience in human services, fundraising, event planning, volunteer management, and/or PR/marketingb. OR a Master's degree and one (1) years' experience in human services, fundraising, event planning, volunteer management, and/or PR/marketing2. Must be detail-oriented and possess exemplary communications skills - both written and verbal.3. Ability to plan and organize complex projects and successfully handle multiple tasks and multiple deadlines.4. Possess business acumen with the ability to interpret and analyze information and data.5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups representing business, civic and religious organizations, along with the general public.6. Clean DMV record and valid Texas State driver's license7. Able to pass background check8. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work; some evenings or weekends may be required.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $45,000.00 per yearBenefits:
