The Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, Strategic Planning, and Assessment leads the development of a strategic vision and plan for academic innovation that enhances UHD's identity and commitments and aligns with institutional priorities. Responsible for administering, and overseeing efforts related to accreditation, assessment, cultivating and strengthening partnerships, student retention, and student completion efforts, as well as new academic affairs data-driven planning and assessment initiatives. DUTIES

  • Directs, coordinates, and oversees institution-wide assessment efforts and promotes alignment with the University of Houston-Downtown's mission, vision, and strategic priorities
  • Oversees the academic and strategic planning process; leads and coordinates university-wide strategic planning initiatives
  • Oversees curricular assessment and accreditation efforts in cooperation with the deans and other AVPs in the Office of the Provost
  • Plans, develops, and maintains an institution-wide performance dashboard of key metrics and supports the development of similar dashboards and metrics for divisional strategic plans through collaboration with Information Technology and other campus units
  • Provides data and analysis to describe the University of Houston-Downtown and its position in the higher education arena to internal and external audiences, and supports enrollment management, market research, and university relations
  • Works with administrative units to improve access to and integrity of institutional data, including leadership of data governance in collaboration with the Information Technology Office and Enrollment Management
  • Serves as the Accreditation liaison, fostering positive/productive relations with the SACSCOC and the THECB (on matters related to academic administration)
  • Assists in providing necessary data for the creation of annual budgets in academic affairs and business and finance areas
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and accrediting reporting requirements
  • Oversees gathering of meaningful data that can inform program assessment for future improvements
  • Serves as the point of contact for MOUs and builds collaborative programs and initiatives with a variety of partners through MOUs and articulation agreements, in collaboration with the Provost and other AVPs in the Office of the Provost
  • Serves on the Academic policy committee
  • Plans, in cooperation with the other units, the Provost, and the AVPs in the Office of the Provost, efforts, and initiatives related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as they interface with the scope of work of the academic affairs unit
  • Coordinates and leads other projects as assigned by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs MARGINAL DUTIES

      • Knowledge of effective higher education assessment processes and modes to effectively track, organize, analyze, and use assessment data Skills:

          • Ability to develop and foster collaborative, diverse, and cross-functional working relationships with executive leadership, peers, direct reports, and all those served by the University of Houston-Downtown WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Primary Work Location: -Works in an office environment Physical Demands: Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. The position is -physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. The work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.
