Manages a portfolio of UH technologies, typically within a
discipline area (ex: life sciences or physical sciences). Evaluates
and analyzes market potential and conducts patent searches for new
invention disclosures. Monitors existing agreements to ensure
compliance with contract terms and works with General Counsel and
other UH Departments as needed to notify external licensees in
default. Assists in managing and tracking university's intellectual
property assets.Job Duties
- Manages a portfolio of UH technologies within a discipline
- Identifies industry partners, startups, and investors who may
license or invest in technologies within the portfolio.
- Coordinates with inventors to identify attractive UH
technologies for licensing to startups or established
- May be responsible for setting goals for the portfolio that
contribute to the delivery of the OTTI strategy.
- Leads the negotiation of new and amended technology transfer
agreements (licenses, options and IP related research agreements)
of medium complexity with external entities.
- May manage support staff, such as licensing
associates/assistants, administrative support, and/or interns.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Bachelors and 5 years experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical
and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional
discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional
discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained
through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college
or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training
program that is directly related to the type of work being
performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of
directly job related experience.
