Chief Financial Officer at Covenant House Texas _ Houston's premiere social service nonprofit targeted specifically for youth in crisis seeks America's premiere finance professional with a personal passion "For Good." _Covenant House Texas (CHT) is a nonprofit organization committed to giving homeless youth and young adults ages 18 - 24 a safe haven, absolute respect, unconditional love, and a path to lasting independence. CHT offers an extensive continuum of care for homeless including mental health and substance abuse counseling, educational and vocational training, transitional and permanent living programs, career services, street outreach and prevention, assistance for LGBTQ and trafficked youth, and parenting classes in addition to providing the basic necessities of food, clothing, medical care and safe shelter from the streets for young men and women in crisis. CHT houses 75% of the homeless youth population in greater Houston.CHT seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will be responsible for supporting the strategic plan of the organization by working throughout the agency to drive financial initiatives and create specific goals, objectives, deliverables, and measurable outcomes. Reporting to the Executive Director, the CFO will lead the financial, accounting, information technology, and risk management functions by supervising multiple departments and additional contract staff. The CFO will also have considerable partnership with the CHT Board of Directors and the Board's Finance Committee in particular.CHT is in the final phase of a $50 million transformational capital campaign and plans to break ground on a new 104,000 building in January 2023. The CFO will play a major role in shaping the outcome of this exciting venture, and will be a key player in business development activities.The successful candidate will be able to document academic and experiential skills in accounting, management, leadership, planning, and organization. A Baccalaureate degree in accounting or business/finance fields is a minimum. Masters in Accounting or MBA degrees are advantageous and a CPA is highly preferable. Nonprofit organization accounting familiarity is a big plus.Key personal characteristics include the ability to master details, support your team, manage up as well as down, and be sensitive to the impact the agency's clientele and their issues have on the work environment and the staff.
