Job Description:
SUMMARY: The Financial Planning and Analysis Department provides
essential information flows and analysis to the CEO, CFO, CAO,
Treasurer and other senior management personnel including financial
and market forecasts, capital and operating budgets, long-term
strategic planning and other ad hoc business analysis as requested.
The department also supports all of the Accounting and Finance
related functions including the Controller's Group, Treasury,
Investor Relations, Risk and Tax teams by leading and assisting
with interdisciplinary projects. This position leads all corporate
planning and analysis related activities with respect to the
Housing and Infrastructure Segment ("Products Segment"). The
incumbent regularly interacts with the Executive Management team,
as well as other department managers and support staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Generates financial reports,
presentations and related analysis for Senior Management and the
Board of Directors of Westlake Chemical for periodic board
meetings, monthly and quarterly reviews, and other Senior
Management meetings Lead the development of short- and long-range
strategic planning for the Products Segment, requiring a deep
understanding of the forces impacting the construction industry to
assess key drivers and assumptions, identify key strategic issues
to be incorporated, and develop long-term forecasts Lead and
consolidate the Products Segment Annual Operating and Capital Plan
process, including communicating and coordinating with the relevant
stakeholders in the Products Segment, completing the necessary
analysis, templates and reports, and contributing to and reviewing
the final presentation to the Board of Directors Identify the key
metrics and develop the internal reporting for the Products Segment
Use prior knowledge and experience to actively and effectively in
business planning and scenario analyses Research relevant market,
societal and macroeconomic trends to report and incorporate
insights into ongoing work products Oversee the development of the
Products Segment section of the investor updates Q&A report and
prepare talking points for Senior Management Provide analysis and
support for Corporate Development projects including due diligence,
cash flow forecasting, valuation, market analyses, etc. Provide ad
hoc reports and analysis to senior management and take leadership
roles in special projects Identify, design and implement
enhancements to existing planning, forecasting and reporting
processes and systems
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will take a leadership role in a team
of seven with three analysts. This position will have direct
oversight of a Principal Analyst with other analysts assigned to
accomplish projects on a timely basis.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Finance or
Accounting with progressive technical and operational business
experience 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
related fields CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred Strong critical thinker
with the ability to work independently as well as being able to
collaborate as part of a high functioning team Must be able to
develop strong relationships and credibility with key internal
teams and business units High financial literacy with attention to
detail. Expert in the compilation and interpretation of important
metrics and other relevant information. Able to analyze and comment
on financial statements and forecasts Strong oral and written
communication / presentation skills Mastery of Excel to both create
models and analysis on the fly and to mentor team in best
practices
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to use a computer,
handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The
employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee
must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up
to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust
focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is in an office setting. The
noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
