Production Manager - -Reports to: - Logistics / Operations
DirectorGeneral Shop Production Manager Job Summary: -Contributes
to net operating profit by applying expert management and
leadership skills over four critical business functions; Shop
production, Tool Management, Painting / Finishing and Shipping. - -
Ensures that Tool Shop inventory levels are both maintained and
controlled and that adequate levels of shop tools and consumables
are available. - Maintains a controlled and highly efficient shop
fabrication environment through effective staffing and management
of qualified shop personnel. - Maintains effective production
schedules resulting in on time competition of projects. -Shop
Production Manager Job Duties: -Develop and implement production
tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality
control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect
production problems. - Reports weekly, or as needed, to
Logistics/Operations Director, production status updates by client
job.Creates and maintains effective man power schedules for shop
and painting/finishing personnel.Maintains well organized shop
production structure designed to complete projects on time with
quality output.Periodically review overall shop operations and
review with Senior Management to resolve production or processing
problems.Hire, and train as necessary qualified shop personnel. -
Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting
performance standards and monitoring performance.Conducts periodic
performance assessments for employees.Resolve personnel issues that
may arise.Maintains accurate timekeeping records for both
attendance and job pass through billing when needed.Ensures
adequate tool levels are maintained for both shop and field
use.Review processing schedules and production orders to make
decisions concerning material requirements, staffing requirements,
work procedures, and job duty assignments, to ensure timely project
completion is met on time. - Reports to management to confirm
adequate resources are available, or if not, what resources are
required.Works closely with Inventory/Facilities Manager to
maintain effective inventory levels for materials used by shop and
to ensure that shop facilities are maintained to appropriate safety
standards and provide for maximum productivity.Periodically review
with management status of shop equipment and make recommendations
for the necessary equipment maintenance or modification, including
the replacement of machines where needed.Conducts periodic safety
training for all shop personnel.Conducts weekly safety meetings
with focus on maintaining a clean and safe work
environment.Implement employee suggestion process solicit input on
issues that can lead enhanced and improve shop performance.
Participates in ongoing training programs to maintain current
knowledge on quality control issues, relying on current trade
literature, virtual/classroom training pertaining to materials use,
technological advances, and statistical studies.Schedules for
periodic ongoing development training to ensure shop personnel are
kept current with latest technology and trade practice
improvements.Set and monitor product standards, examining samples
of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure
finished products are of prescribed quality. -Procures all shop
tools and supplies through purchasing.Reviews tool inventory
management reports weekly to assess trends on missing tools and
equipment, and usage volume versus supply levels to ensure that
necessary tools and equipment are on hand.Participates in weekly
Logistics/Operations meetings and is prepared to provide
appropriate updates regarding shop production progress by job. -
Must be able to complete drug screening and be able to submit to
random testing.Skills/Qualifications: -Spanish speaking bi-lingual
skills preferred. - Minimum 10 years prior shop
production/management experience. This position requires excellent
organization and time management skills. Knowledge of business and
management principles involved in strategic planning, resource
allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique,
production methods, and coordination of people and
resources.Knowledge of raw materials, production/fabrication
processes, quality control, cost control, and other techniques for
maximizing the effective manufacture/fabrication of product. - Must
be able to read and convert - English to Metric measurements. -
Must have excellent knowledge of steel fabrication, sheet metal
application and processing, welding, painting, HVAC fabrication. -
Strong working knowledge of machines and tools, including their
designs, uses, repair, and maintenance requirements. -Knowledge of
the practical application of engineering science and technology.
This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and
equipment to the design and production of various goods and
services. Working knowledge of project management software and over
all basic Microsoft Office and Outlook knowledge is a plus. - The
ability to function well as part of a team. - Must be flexible for
occasional overtime to include weekends when necessary. - -
