Job Description

The Opportunity

The Director of Special Projectswill work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Operations lead team to meet team and organizational objectives and craft the operations 2025 and 2030 plans that align with KIPP Texas' new 2025 and 2030 plans. This person will support the Chief Operating Officer in a chief of staff-like capacity focusing on systems, processes, planning and projects to support the success of the Operations team. This person will serve as a liaison and service partner to other Operations lead team members and various KIPP Texas departments.

This position will sit on the Operations team, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

  • You increase and facilitate high-impact coordination among cross-functional teams to support KIPP Texas' Operations goals and priorities
  • You serve as a critical thought-partnerto the Chief Operating Officer while providing sound counsel to the Operations Leadership Team and maintaining complete confidentiality
  • You set vision, plan, and manage communication to stakeholders, and execute annual and quarterly planning processes for Ops' owned KIPP Texas priorities and maintain a pulse for other departmental priorities
  • You support the COO in developing critical communications, presentations, and correspondence; accompany the COO to critical meetings and/or serve as representative at meetings or functions she is unable to attend
  • You provide coordination and oversight in the development and execution of strategic initiatives and special projects for the COO, organization, and network
  • You demonstrate master-level facilitation skills, zooming in on the problem to solve, and zooming out to make connections for solutions with the appropriate stakeholder input.
  • You facilitate effective leadership team meetings ensuring the team is focused on the most critical strategic and tactical issues, making decisions, monitoring organizational progress on key indicators, and cascading communications through the organization
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Support the operations leadership team through progress monitoring of key performance indicators, prioritizing discussion, decision making and driving the strategy of the organization based on cross-functional connections to achieve specific outcomes on behalf of the organization in a timely and effective manner
    • Support in setting the agenda/scope and sequence, prepare briefings, memos, or presentations to communicate findings as appropriate for the Operational Leadership Team + T2 as requested by the COO
    • Oversee cross-functional, organization-wide projects and initiatives to help drive execution
    • Establish, maintain and run team operating mechanisms
    • Serve as a thought partner and provide COO support with board meetings and special projects
    • Promote team integration as well as cross-functional communication and collaboration
    • Manage key relationships with stakeholders and clients ensuring excellent customer service
    • Communicate the strategy, projects and process to stakeholders helping to connect the dots across all departments

      • Education: Bachelor's degree required
      • Experience: 10+ years of full-time professional experience required;
      • Licenses or Certifications (if applicable): None
