Nature and Scope
The Document Management Application Lead will coordinate between the business users and the Digital Technology (DT) organization. This governance role will be responsible for handling business demand for improving and extending the capabilities of Air Products' standard document management applications. This role will handle a growing list of EDMS enhancements, work with DT to rationalize business requirements, and set priorities based on critical business needs.

The Document Management Application Lead will be staffed as a full-time member of the Lifecycle Automation Team. This role requires a resourceful person with 10+ years' experience leading and using document management systems for large engineering or manufacturing businesses. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in electronic document management technologies and methods deployed in a complex technical environment. This individual will work closely with Engineering, Product Lines, Digital Technologies, Project Managers, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Project Controls, and Operations.

Principal accountabilities

  • Be the subject matter expert in Enterprise Document Management (EDMS) solutions and methods.
  • Maintain and promote a holistic perspective on EDMS capabilities and its functional role in the business.
  • Meet routinely with other subject-matter experts to ensure business needs are prioritized and addressed.
  • Develop strong relationships with business leads, document control managers, and DT leads to coordinate OpenText functional improvements.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in current EDMS capabilities.
  • Work with global document control teams to assess and communicate needs.
  • Be the escalation manager for critical business issues related to EDMS applications.
  • Review and address backlog issues.
  • Prepare an EDMS enhancement list for budget planning and project approval.
  • Present progress and status to management teams. Critical competencies
    • Well-organized and detail-oriented; Ability to handle a rapidly growing business environment.
    • Uses resources available to seek additional help when needed to solve issues expeditiously.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal.)
    • Strong facilitative skills, including presenting to cross cultures and geographies.
    • Experience articulating business requirements and documenting technical solutions.
    • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
    • Understanding of detailed engineering document control processes.
    • Keeps pace with industry trends and best practices. Preferred qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
      • 10+ years of relevant professional experience (minimum).
      • Certification in Document Management
      • Experience handling and using OpenText, Documentum, or other enterprise-level document management systems.
