Summary
The Project Controls Manager helps to establish, and implement
company-wide operational practices, technology, and reporting that
lead to improved project performance and client satisfaction
measured through improved productivity, profitability, quality, and
safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Refine and manage HR Green's scope generation, project fee
estimating, project planning, cost control, document control, scope
of work management and project delivery risk management
processes.
- Monitor project and Practice performance and identify and
communicate to project management, Business Line Leadership, and
Director of Operations situations that have the potential to
materially affectoverall company financial performance.
- Ensure Change Management is adhered to by project team to
quantify impact to schedule and cost. Lead the effort with project
team to develop mitigation plans to stay on plan.
- Work with Project Managers to ensure alignment of the project
forecast Estimates to Complete (ETC) and Estimates at Completion
(EAC) both in terms of hours and cost.
- Work with all Business Lines to maintain and update the
standard project work breakdown structure (WBS).
- Create and maintain a suite of standard internal weekly and
monthly reports to assist project personnel and Business Line and
Corporate management with the analysis of trends and overall review
of performance for Projects, Practices, and Business Lines.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to potential impacts to
scope, cost and schedule.
- Evaluate project contracts and commercial terms to ensure that
the project estimate and operational controls are aligned to
address any specific project needs. Note that legal review of
contracts will be provided by HR Green legal staff.
- Understands and advises project managers on contract/estimate
types and the commercial unique implications (Lump Sum, T&M,
Fixed Fee).
- Sourcing, development and mentoring of project controls
staff.
- Hold project team accountable for progress commitments.
Influence others, not under your direct control, to drive for
completion of tasks and attainment of project milestones.
- Communicate proactively with project teams and Business Line
leadership all issues and variances which may influence the project
outcome.
- Provides other ad-hoc analyses and assignments, as needed.
- Supports firmwide continuous improvement and quality
programs.
- Participates in project review meetings and conducts periodic
quality assurance audits to ensure quality conformance. Provides
regular input to Director of Operations and Business Line
leadership on the performance of project managers and addresses
instances of noncompliance.
- Provides input on the development and management of the
Administrative Group's annual budget.
Education and Experience
- B.A./B.S. Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or
Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressive project controls
experience in consulting engineering or professional services
organization.
- Demonstrated experience in translating broad initiatives into
specific objectives and action plans and executing plans that have
resulted in improved efficiencies and company performance.
- Demonstrated ability to support change management with an
organization on a growth trajectory.
- Demonstrated leadership in building consensus, coordinating
cross-functional teams, and influencing change at various levels of
an organization, both inside and outside of one's direct reporting
authority.
- Demonstrated expertise leading project controls and
understanding of budgeting and project accounting and standards in
the A/E/C industry.
- Must be willing to travel 25% of the time across the HR Green
footprint to execute position responsibilities.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products. Deltek
Vantagepoint experience preferred.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of critical path scheduling
concepts and how to incorporate critical path thinking into project
planning.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and
demonstrated public speaking skills.
- The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor
vehicle for company business, must maintain a valid driver's
license in the state of residence, and must be insurable for
performing driving duties.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as company
policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, including
composing correspondence and reports, and following and giving oral
and written directions.
- Ability to deliver practical solutions to complex problems and
deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists.
Compensation
$89,000 - $145,000
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in
accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and
California's SB 1162. The final agreed-upon compensation is based
on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual
education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience,
competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual
compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility
to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and
discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
