ALS is seeking to employ a highly experienced and motivated individual to lead our IT operations and service desk teams in our North America region. This position will be based at our Houston, TX. The successful candidate for this position will be part of a regional IT management team reporting to the Global IT Operations Director. This role will have responsibility for the IT operational teams based in USA and Canada.
Manage service desk operations;
Monitor and assist with availability of IT applications and infrastructure;
Implement acceptable IT service levels for the various business units;
Build and maintain working relationships with business managers and other regional and functional IT teams;
Manage costs associated with the provision of IT services within the region;
Report to management on IT support, costs and performance within the region.
Drive prioritization and delivery of critical IT operations initiatives and handle timely decision-making for new solutions
Manage installations and upgrades of IT systems at ALS laboratories in close coordination with ALS lab management
Manage and maintain server rooms and closets at ALS laboratories in close coordination with facilities managers
Manage and maintain operational technology and end user device lifecycle management
Deliver IT services following best practices for service management, change management, incident management, and problem management
Provision and support new and existing ALS sites
Support merger & acquisition initiatives when required
Assist and engage with the IT Security team to maintain a secure environment
Manage recruitment, performance management, and coaching/mentoring of team members
Develop business cases, budgets, cost/benefit analysis, total cost of ownership, ROI and other financial analysis as needed
Special projects/assignments as required
Minimum 7 years' experience leading and directing IT operational and service desk teams;
Relevant training and certifications are highly desirable (ITIL, COBIT, , NIST)
Strong project management experience and the ability to drive multiple projects to closure in a timely manner
The ability to be a proactive team player with the skills to lead and communicate with all stakeholders;
Excellent communication and organisational skills;
Ability to create business cases and budgets in support of IT initiatives
Strong problem solving and issue resolution skills
Highly self motivated and directed
High attention to detail with the ability to build a culture committed to the highest quality;
Availability for flexible working hours and occasional travel to national and international locations.
