Operations, Offshore WindThe utility scale Offshore Wind market in
the US is expanding rapidly, to meet commitments from the States
for renewable energy generation and carbon free energy solutions
for the next decade and beyond. The Director of Marine Operations,
Offshore Wind is responsible for planning and execution of marine
operations related to offshore wind, mainly offshore wind
Transportation and Installation scopes of work, such as scour rock
installation. This is a key position to support GLDD's strategic
entry into the burgeoning US offshore wind market and capture a
tremendous growth opportunity as the world transitions to cleaner,
carbon free sources of energy. The position reports directly to the
GLDD Senior VP, Offshore Wind with dotted line reporting to the
Offshore Wind Project Director, during offshore operations. -About

world. - -Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop GLDD marine operations capability in offshore wind in
general, and Subsea Rock Installation more specifically. Develop
operating philosophy, operating model, and implement procedures for
Subsea Rock Installation Operations.
- Make sure the Subsea Rock Installation vessel, Acadia,
currently under construction, is crewed and ready for operations in
2025.
- Work with the existing GLDD dredging services organization to
recruit and train the crew for the new built vessel, in time to
meet project objectives. Identify synergies in logistics, crewing,
maintenance, repairs, spares etc with the GLDD dredging
operations.
- Onshore Point of Contact for the Subsea Rock Installation
Vessel during operations. Plan and assist project teams in managing
the execution of Offshore Wind Installation projects, starting in
2025. Interface with Project Directors during project
execution.
- Plan and manage vessel operations to optimize routes, weather
routing, bunker planning, port interface, vessel loading,
regulatory agencies and related "local" vessel criteria (sail
speed, sail restrictions, etc).
- Support, and coordinate vessel safety procedures, as
required.
- Evaluate opportunities for scaling up GLDD operations in
Offshore Wind Transportation and Installation related scopes of
work.
- Interface with offshore wind developers and Tier 1 suppliers,
as the company SME in offshore wind marine operations.
- Interface with quarries and rock suppliers in the East Coast to
optimize the rock supply cycle time and manage the logistics and
rock supply operations supporting Offshore Wind and Subsea Rock
Installation.
- Support the design and construction of offshore wind vessel(s),
and specifically the Subsea Rock Installation Vessel that is
currently under construction. Ensure the vessel specifications
support world class marine operations.
- Support proposal development, including schedule and cost
estimates.
- Support the development of Remote Operations Support Center for
offshore wind. -Qualifications:Professional qualifications for this
important position include:
- B.S or M.S. in Naval Architecture, Engineering, Marine
Operations, Maritime Academy or related fields; -
- 10+ years of experience in marine operations (offshore oil and
gas, offshore wind, dredging, etc. );
- Experience with DP2 Vessels;
- Experience in offshore wind marine operations is a definite
plus;
- Experience in vessel logistics, operations, crewing, etc
- Construction management experience (fab yard or offshore) is a
