Summary: Position is located onsite in Houston, Texas. (Hybrid) Under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Accounting, this position is responsible for all corporate aspects of the accounting and financial reporting process ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position will assist in various treasury accounting duties including forecasting of company cash positions, oversee treasury structure, and to ensure the proper recording of key transactions. Additionally, the position supports organizational financial objectives by providing financial analysis recommendations and directing of staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: --- Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in the creation and production of timely, consistent, and accurate financial statements (in accordance with GAAP) and management reports. --- Work closely with outside auditors and prepare the necessary schedules and supporting documents to complete the annual audit in a timely manner. --- Assist in the performance of various treasury functions for the company including ensuring proper recording of key transactions, managing of cash position/liquidity, and forecasting company cash needs to provide funding recommendations to executives. --- Manage and assist in the completion of various corporate accounting functions including overhead allocations, quarterly financial reporting for overhead departments, and tracking of overhead initiatives. --- Supervise various corporate accounting functions including bank reconciliations, consolidation of 3rd party financials, balance reconciliations, and budget exception processes. --- Directs and performs monthly review of actuals results versus budget and prior periods identifying trends and cost concerns specifically for overhead and land departments. --- Assist with the annual budget process. --- Complete various projects on an as needed basis. Requirements Education and Required Experience: --- Bachelor's degree in Accounting --- CPA eligible --- 3+ years' experience in Accounting --- Public accounting experience required Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements: --- LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients. Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English to tenants, vendors, clients, and employees. --- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. --- REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. --- Proficient in the use of personal computer and Microsoft applications.
