Description: Texas Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Department promotes the mission of the hospital in providing quality and cost-effective care. The mission of the pharmacy department is to:

Within the pharmacy department resides a specialized group of dedicated informatics professionals known as the willow team. The team is comprised of application architects, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, systems analysts, and business analysts. Members support over 25 different systems spanning over the entire organization from inpatient units and ambulatory clinics to retail and specialty pharmacy. Texas Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Informatics Residency is a 12-month program, currently in ASHP candidate status, focused on patient safety through the implementation of technology in medication management. Our program is the only one within the state of Texas and all of its surrounding states. The program is designed to meet the pre-defined program goals and objectives and is tailored based on resident interests and past experience. The training allows residents to gain experience and be prepared to enter practice positions in a variety of environments. They are equipped to be the pharmacy department’s source of informatics knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to serve health system information technology, automation and data management needs. Additionally, pharmacy informatics training enables graduates to participate in broader healthcare informatics initiatives or design innovative information technology and informatics solutions for healthcare. This program begins on the first Monday in July.
