Job Description:
We are searching for an ECMO / ECLS (Extracorporeal Life
Support) Specialist - someone who works well in a fast-paced
setting. In this position, you will provide Extracorporeal Membrane
Oxygenation (ECMO) support in an age-appropriate manner for
patients ranging from neonates to adults.
Think you've got what it takes?Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care by implementing, operating, and
managing ECMO/VAD systems
- Set up support systems according to case preferences and age
appropriateness
- Complete the pre-pump checklist prior to the start of the
ECMO
- Manage the ECMO/VAD circuit and diagnose complications and
extracorporeal physiology
- Ensure that the pump team's supplies and equipment are
available
- Complete quality control and quality assurance for all
analyzers
- Serve as an educator and mentor
- Keep abreast of new developments and technologies in critical
care and ECMOQualifications
- Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster
dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for
Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at
Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious
exemption.
- Licensed Registered Nurse with the Texas Medical Board is
required
- 2 years of neonatal or pediatric critical care experience
required
- In-depth knowledge of the cardiopulmonary system as it relates
to ECMO support in the pediatric, infant, and adult
