Job Description:
MD Anderson Cancer Center has a Speech Language Pathologist
opportunity in the Head and Neck Center. The ideal candidate will
have a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or
Communication Sciences and Disorders and at least one to two years
of medical, acute care, and or outpatient hospital speech language
pathology experience. Prefer candidates with oncology
experience.Shift: 8-hour day shiftSUMMARYThe Speech Language
Pathologist functions, evaluates and treats patients with
swallowing, cognitive and/or communication deficits of functional
and/or organic origin. Impacts patient care through evaluation and
treatment of speech, language, cognitive voice and/or swallowing
disorders.Essential Job FunctionsProvides comprehensive evaluation
of all assigned patients. Develops and administers rehabilitative
plan of care consistent with the specific areas of deficit.
Implements and maintains records (i.e. progress reports, daily
notes and discharge summaries) of patient activity and services
provided. Initiates referrals and conveys recommendations to
medical, educational and allied health professionals and social
agencies. Attends and participates in rounds and other meetings
specific to patient needs. Facilitates program development and
expansion via professional meetings, research activities,
presentations and correspondence. Plans and participates in
training for hospital staff and family members.Other duties as
assigned.EDUCATIONRequired: Master's degree in Speech Language
Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.Preferred:
NoneEXPERIENCERequired: None. Preferred: One to two years of
medical, acute care, and or outpatient hospital speech language
pathology experience. Oncology experienceCERTIFICATION Required:
All of the following:Certification in Speech-Language Pathology
(CCC-SLP) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA)within 30 days of hire. License in Speech
Language Pathology issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and
Regulation within 30 days of date of entry into job.It is the
