Job Description:
The Patient Services Coordinator position on the Nursing
Isolation unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center coordinates and
schedules patient appointments and has direct impact on patient
care services.The schedule will be two 12 hour shifts and two 8
hour shifts each week. The shifts will be 7pm-7am, 3pm-11pm, and
11pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays required.The Nursing
Isolation Unit cares for a mix of medical, surgical, hematological
and ICU patients that have a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis. The
patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our nurses
have the opportunity to learn a variety of disease processes and
manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting
clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of
care. Our organization's guiding principles during this time has

lines of defense to protect our patients and employees, including
testing, vaccination, personal protective equipment (PPE) and
managing the number of people on our campuses. The single point of
entry allows for better controls and awareness for all staff. In
addition, the isolation unit is supported by a separate air
handling system and all rooms are designated as negative pressure
rooms, which makes the unit ideal to serve suspected and confirmed
cases. The team continues to use video and iPad communication when
appropriate to minimize entering patient rooms.The University of

employees and the public.Essential Job Functions: Schedules
provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and
treatments. Prepares and maintains daily appointment templates
and/or patient records in One Connect (Epic). Communicates all
pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and
other patient care areas. Prepares patient materials and
documentation according to established procedures. Collects
co-payments and validates patient insurance and demographics.
Updates payment and patient information Reconciles One Connect cash
drawer on a daily basis. Performs validation of the Medicare
Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).Ensures coordination of
benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR). Follows
standard operating procedures for institution and center. Protects
the security and confidentiality of patient information at all
times.EDUCATION:Required: High school diploma or
equivalent.Preferred: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree would
be a plus.EXPERIENCE:Required: Three years of relevant work
experience. May substitute additional education for required
experience on a one to one basis. OTHER: Required: Must pass
pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human
