Job Description We are searching for a Part Time Registered
Nurse for our Surgical/Ortho/Trauma unit – someone who works well
in a fast-paced setting. 11WT is a 36 bed
surgical/orthopedic/trauma unit. The unit consists of 32 general
admission beds and 4 designated trauma beds. 11WT receives a wide
array of surgical patients from a variety of surgical services. •
General Surgery: appendectomies, hernia repairs, pectus repairs,
tumor resections • Orthopedic Surgery: spinal fusions, bone
fractures, osteotomies • Urology Surgery: ureteral re-implants,
nephrectomies, bladder augmentations • Plastic Surgery: cleft lip
and/or palate repairs, rhinoplasties, brachial plexus repairs • ENT
Surgery: Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, PE Tube placement, cochlear
implants The 4 trauma beds are used for patients who have sustained
a multisystem or severe injury from some sort of trauma. You may
also see minor trauma patients throughout the unit. Some of the
types of trauma that we see are motor vehicle accidents,
auto-pedestrian accidents, ATV accidents, gunshot wounds, sports
injuries, and child abuse. The nurses who care for these patients
in the trauma rooms have received additional training on how to
care and manage these types of patients. The trauma nurse is an
expanded role that is offered on 11WT. The goal of 11WT is to
create a unit that patients, families, and prospective employees
strongly desire to be a part of because we are the best at what we
do. Think you've got what it takes? Requirements: • Bachelor's
degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or
current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is required •
Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas
or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification with American
Heart Association are required • 9 months of professional nursing
experience • The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate
interpersonal skills • Demonstrate good time and resource
management skills • Demonstrate flexibility • Demonstrate strong
oral and written communication skills • Operate unit specific
equipment • Able to work nights • Knowledge of the nursing process,
critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS and interdisciplinary

health and safety standards. Responsibilities: • Performs and
documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical,
psychosocial, developmental ( age – appropriate), culture,
spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic
manner. • Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and
detects changes in patient status • Re-prioritizes and updates plan
of care based on new information and changes to the patient's
condition; communicates this information to other health care team
members and documents in the medical record. • Participates in
interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and
documents in the medical record • Assists patients/family in
implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate • Assess
patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and
readiness to learn prior to teaching. • Demonstrates positive and
effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families,
visitors, peers, and other health care team members. • Administers
and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner. •
Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and
utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and
organizational performance. • Participate in unit performance
