Job Description:
Job Description We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant who is motivated to work in an exciting
pediatric setting! In this position, you will practice in an
advanced role to provide developmentally appropriate and
age-appropriate health maintenance for well children, episodic care
for ill children, and comprehensive care for children with chronic
conditions. The NP or PA works under a delineation of clinical
privileges and will work collaboratively with other members of the
health care team. Practice under established guidelines and
clinical protocols, the APP assumes independent and interdependent
responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of
treatment and procedures. Job duties are performed in a manner that
is developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served. As
an advanced practice provider, the NP or PA is responsible for
education, research, consultation, and evaluation of clinical
practice at various levels. Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner: -
Master's degree in nursing required - RN license from the Texas
Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required - FNP, NNP,
PNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CPNP-AC, AG-ACNP, or PHMNP-BC from the Texas Board
of Nursing required Physician Assistant: - Required Bachelor's
Degree - PA -Cert-Physician Assistant by the Texas Medical Board
Responsibilities: Nurse Practitioner: • Daily uses advanced
practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and
evaluate health assessment data and manage patients' caseload.
Obtains a comprehensive health, developmental, and family history
on patients as documented in the patient's medical record. • Assess
the patient's physical status through the physical examination as
documented in the patient's medical record. • Differentiates
between normal and abnormal findings as documented in the patient's
medical record. • Performs or recommends age-appropriate health
screening procedures as documented in the patient's medical record.
• Provides health maintenance and health promotion for children of
all ages as documented in the patient's medical record. • Performs
and evaluates diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests as
documented in the patient's medical record. • Analyzes multiple
sources of data and formulates a differential diagnosis in
collaboration with physicians as demonstrated in the written
documentation. • Follows established delegation protocols to manage
specific patient problems. Formulates a plan of care in
collaboration with other health care professionals and documents
the plan in the patient's medical record. • Accurately evaluates
patient's responses to interventions and modifies the plan of care
demonstrated by written documentation. • Accurately presents and
documents the data, impression, and plan of care on all patients as
demonstrated in the written documentation. • Consistently
demonstrates effective communication skills and works to eliminate
communication barriers. • Collaborates effectively with other
members of the health care disciplines to provide comprehensive
care to patients. • Utilizes effective and appropriate interviewing
skills to elicit information from patients and/or family and
collaborates with them in developing the care plan. • Requests
consultation and/or initiates referral for specialized care as
appropriate. Communicates with health care team members the
comprehensive assessment, impression, and plan of care. •
Consistently serves as an educational resource for the patient and
family, community, and other health care professionals. •
Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to pediatric nursing to
clinical practice. • Demonstrates current professional, managerial,
and/or technical knowledge and skills. Maintains knowledge base by
reading professional literature, attending staff development, and
continuing education programs annually. Participates in department
and hospital committees, which promote quality nursing, care as
assigned. • Demonstrates NP role behaviors consistent with the
development of advanced nursing practice. • Participates in
departmental Quality Improvement program annually. As part of our

standards. Physician Assistant: • Provide medical services that are
within the education and training of the Physician Assistant within
the scope of practice and delegation of the supervising physician •
Obtain a comprehensive health, developmental, and family history on
patients and documents appropriately in the patient's medical
record • Differentiate between normal and abnormal findings and
documents appropriately in the patient's medical record • Prescribe
or administer medications as delegated by the supervising physician
and documents in medical records • Administer appropriate vaccines
as observed by physicians and documented in medical records • Order
diagnostic tests consistent with differential diagnoses derived
from gathered data as evidenced by types of tests ordered • Foster
collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to improve health
care • Establish a relationship with the patient/family
characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration As part
