Job Description We are searching for Staff Nurses for our
Pavilion for Women NICU Team! We are looking for someone who works
well in a fast-paced setting. In this position you'll provide
quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating,
implementing, and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner that
incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. We
need someone who can collect and analyze data from the medical
record in order to coordinate patient care. Think you've got what
it takes? ABOUT OUR PFW NICU The purpose of the Newborn Center at
Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is to provide the full spectrum of
comprehensive care tending to the clinical and psychosocial needs
of all neonates and their families. Texas Children's Hospital NICU
holds the distinct honor of being the first recognized Level IV
NICU in The State of Texas and was recognized in 2024 as the 3 NICU
in the country by US News. PFW NICU offers the highest possible
level of specialized treatments as well as expert specialists for
babies born prematurely and with unique health challenges. It is
located on the 7th & 8th floor of the Pavilion for Women Tower and
is a private room unit with a transition area. The private bed unit
fosters teamwork and collaboration amongst the nurses. Babies
admitted to this unit are born in the Pavilion for Women Labor and
Delivery unit or may have transferred in from other facilities. A
team of NICU-specialized nurses, providers, respiratory therapists,
social workers, child life specialists, physical therapists,
occupational therapists, speech therapists, music therapists, care
coordinators, and pharmacists come together to care for our
patients and families. TCH PFW NICU RN's will be responsible for
caring for critically ill neonates and infants requiring complex
care and the highest level of support. Our teams provide complex
medical and surgical care to patients born at 22 weeks or greater
with multiple diagnoses, including but not limited to respiratory
distress requiring Bubble CPAP, NIPPV, High-Frequency Oscillatory
Ventilation, and Jet Ventilation. We utilize simulation-driven
evidence-based practices, utilizing the latest technology to
provide robust, quality patient care. Come join our one amazing
team! QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in nursing or other degree
in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program
and signed agreement - Current licensure with the Board of Nursing
for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS
certification are required - 9 months of professional nursing
experience - The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate
interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills,
flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills,
knowledge of unit-specific equipment, and knowledge of the nursing
process, critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary
collaboration - Previous NICU or ICU experience highly preferred!

safety standards. RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform and document
assessments of the patient/family including biophysical,
psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental
needs - Collect and analyze data from the medical record in order
to coordinate patient care - Analyze situations, anticipate
potential problems, and detect changes in patient status - Identify
each patient's needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge
planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional
status, and pain management - Develop an individualized plan of
care based upon the nursing assessment and re-prioritize and change
as necessary - Determine which standards of care and practice apply
to the patient and coordinate among other health team members as
appropriate - Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or
patient care conferences - Execute therapeutic physician or nurse
interventions according to established standards - Evaluate and
document the patient's response to the care provided and recognize
their progress towards the desired outcome - Identify
actual/potential barriers to learning and utilize various teaching
strategies to overcome them as appropriate - Maintain
confidentiality concerning patient/family issues - Act as a
resource in educating new employees/team members - Participate in
achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities ABOUT US
