This 42-bed, Level III-C NICU has expansion capacity for up to 60 high-risk infants. Delivering over 5,500 infants per year, this is one of the busiest Obstetrical /Neonatal Services in the greater Houston area. In addition to caring for inborn infants, we serve surrounding areas through our neonatal transport team. Our physician team specializes in difficult gastrointestinal cases, with increasing emphasis on newborns with short gut repairs. These children, and others, often stay with us in a family-centered, extended care unit.The Women's, Infants' and Children's Division will be undergoing a major building renovation beginning in May of 2016. All areas will be renovated over 3-4 years, remaking our existing facility into a Women's and Children's Hospital with an exquisite, single-room NICU design.UTMB is a Texas Ten Step Star Achiever Designated facility, Magnet recognized, and Mother-Friendly worksite. We are currently in the D2 Phase of our Baby Friendly journey, and one of only 100 hospitals in the nation to be selected for the new EMPower Breastfeeding Collaborative. Salary Range
