Each of our career tracks provides employees with the ability to innovate, and be a significant contributor from their first day on the job.Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Lead Payroll Specialist in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!Role Summary:The Lead Payroll Specialist role is a critical member of the Payroll team that coordinates the weekly payroll process, collaborates with the organization on payroll matters, performs accounting responsibilities for the team, and supports applications that allow for successful performance of the department.Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:Primary point of contact for weekly payroll cycle and customer service. Key tasks include:Payroll Processing. Accurate and timely processing of payroll and maintaining accurate payroll information for all domestic employees.Quality Control. Review payroll reports to ensure accuracy of completed payroll, reviewing and approving new hire, termination, job change, transfer, direct deposit and other applicable workflows submitted within the HRIS platform and reviewing timesheets for accuracy and coordination with departments for necessary corrections.Customer Service. Troubleshooting and resolving payroll related questions submitted by the employees in a timely manner.Personnel Training. Training Employee Time Approvers in accurately recording employee time records in time recordkeeping system.Monitor. In collaboration with the Payroll Manager, monitors the teamu0027s performance metrics, monitoring and adherence to policies and procedures in a timely fashion to ensure an accurate and timely payroll while meeting the requirements of the company and its employees.Manage payroll reporting and data integrity. Examples include:Data Management Maintain employee records with applicable union, garnishment and United Way deductions as well as completing reports for remittance of payments to appropriate agencies.Reporting. Summarizing and running general ledger reports and creating, completing, and submitting required payroll and labor statistic reports to governmental agencies.Payroll Tax. Assist in tracking all local, state, and federal payroll tax returns. Review tax reporting and compliance. Collaborate with the process of W-2s and complete year end statementsPerform Accounting function for Payroll team. Responsibilities include:Journal Entries. Posting payroll journal entries and analyzing general ledger accounts for accuracy.Sarbanes-Oxley. Establishing and maintaining appropriate accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.Support process improvements and team development. Responsibilities include:Process Improvements. Acting as a change agent to identify process improvements, implement changes and promote best practices.System Updates. Assist with the updating and maintaining the earnings codes, earnings groups, and deduction groups within the HRIS platform.System implementation. Be part of a successful system implementation, accurately transposing employee and company information into the payroll product to ensure a seamless, error-free transition.And other duties as assigned.Position Requirements:A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience with progressive payroll responsibilities, payroll processing experience is preferred.Associate''s Degree in accounting, business or related discipline OR equivalent combination of education and experience required.Have some knowledge of payroll tax compliance, federal, state, and localExperience with utilizing payroll, financial systems and software packages required.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel required.Experience with UKG formerly UltiPro, Cognos and JDE a plus.Experience with implementing Payroll Software solutionsCertificates & Licenses:FPC/CPP preferred Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:Persons who succeed in this position possess an ability to work accurately and within rigid time constraints and should have proficient accounting, analytical and communication cumbent must be organized and have the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.This position is very detail oriented and requires a high degree of confidentiality. Essential Functions:This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.This position requires compliance with all personnel policies. Physical and Safety Requirements: The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.
