OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerforms complex, highly skilled
technical work in the design, installation, operation, maintenance
and repair of computer hardware, data communications equipment, and
industrial control systems. Oversees the installation, maintenance,
troubleshooting and repair of data communications networks or
process control data networks. Diagnoses data communications system
failures; interfaces with vendors to resolve problems with various
types of data communications facilities. Evaluates process control
equipment to make recommendations for improvement of performance;
provides training for installation and operation of equipment.
Maintains preventive maintenance records and schedules and inputs
data into the "Infor" Work Management System. Analyzes malfunctions
and repairs components of wide and local area networks. Repairs and
calibrates all components of process control and analytical
systems; troubleshoots and repairs both digital and analog
electronic equipment to the component level. WORKING CONDITIONSThis
position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items (up
to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces
on a routine basis. Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to
less-than optimal temperature and air conditions.This is a
Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at
the Tier 1 Level.
