Position Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and
procedures provides legal/general support to the firm's attorneys
and their clients. Must be familiar with and observe the firm's
established policies and guidelines. Must maintain positive contact
with attorneys (both the firm's and outside counsel), support
staff, clients and vendors. Observes confidentiality of client and
firm matters.
This position is not limited to the functions and skills listed on
this description and responsibilities may be revised as needed.

The Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal is primarily responsible
for assisting IP attorneys in servicing client's Intellectual
Property matters including, the perfection and enforcement of
patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
This position is not limited to the functions and skills listed on
this description and responsibilities may be revised as needed.
Essential Functions
Experience in the preparation, filing and prosecution of domestic
and foreign patent and trademark applications (e.g. patent
cooperation treaty ("PCT") filings, annuity payments, correspond
with foreign associates, etc.);
--- Ability to conduct searches on trademark and patent
databases;
--- Experience with inter parties review, post-grant review and
covered business method reviews at the PTAB;
--- Experience with IP due diligence work;
--- Experience in preparing patent family summaries and estimates
for prosecution matters;
--- Familiarity with PATTSY docketing system; and familiarity with
PracticeLink, a plus;
--- Ensure that all relevant due dates are being met by the
group;
--- Ability to take the lead on dealing with client needs;
--- Experience working with foreign associates;
--- Willingness to handle filings after hours, as needed;
--- Interpret and understand U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
rules; and
--- Other administrative duties within IP department, as
assigned.
Requirements
Education: College Degree required with IP training and/or a
paralegal certificate preferred.
Experience: General office skills required. Seven to ten years of
prior IP practice experience and knowledge patent cooperation
treaty ("PCT") papers.
Skills: Excellent organizational skills. Must be detail oriented.
Effective oral and written skills. Current software knowledge,
including MS Access or other database software is required.
Knowledge of patent searching databases. Knowledge of the Dialog
database a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Equipment To Be Used: Personal computer and other office equipment
such as telephone, calculator, fax, machine, copier, scanner,
etc.
Typical Physical Demands: Manual dexterity sufficient to operate
standard office equipment.
Typical Mental Demands: Able to work effectively in a fast paced
environment. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work
situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various
personalities at all levels.
Working Conditions: Works in typical office setting. Occasionally
called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily
schedule.
