Responsible for the operationsof a large program or center at
the university. Oversees staff, budgets, andprojects.
Oversees a large department, program or center.
Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure

Engages in budget planning, grant oversight, and

Requiresa thorough understanding of both theoretical and

a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college
oruniversity or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program
that isdirectly related to the type of work being performed.

to oversee institute operations, staff, andprojects. The HEALTH
Research Institute leverages an interdisciplinary group
ofresearchers at the University of Houston to advance science
capable of meetingthe health needs of the Houston community and
beyond. Our primary mission is toconduct cutting-edge research that
informs novel prevention, early detection,diagnosis, and
intervention strategies that mitigate a broad range of
healthchallenges. Our partnerships with a diverse array of
stakeholders inform agrowing public health challenge through
multi-site cooperative trials, publichealth initiatives, and
empowering disseminationand implementation activities that are
embedded in the cultural fabric of thecommunities we serve.
In addition to the job dutieslisted above, the Program Director
will also interfacewith communities, represent the HEALTH Research
Institute to internal andexternal constituents, and increase public
health awareness of the institute’sactivities in a favorable
Bachelor's Degree and seven (7) years of directlyjob-related
A demonstrated history of working withunderserved populations,
community-based organizations, faith-based organizations,policy
makers, service providers, and/or other related stakeholders.
