Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Senior HSE Learning & Engagement Manager to join the Global Professional Shared Services (PSS) team.

As a senior leader, this individual will provide leadership and direction in the management of HSSE Incident Investigations and Lessons Learned process for Serious and High Potential HSE-related events throughout the organization. This role provides leadership and direction to the HSE department to engage personnel on projects and improve department processes and procedures.

This role is responsible for communicating key learnings through various media and platforms to inform and enable Wood employees to continually increase their knowledge, skills, and competencies around incident prevention and continuous improvement. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to drive innovation with systems and tools throughout a global workforce by way of strategic partnerships and excellence in communication.

This individual will ensure compliance with applicable HSE Management System, Customer Safety Policies, and governmental regulations by supervising the development of procedures and safety plans and ensuring proper execution. This position requires expert knowledge of Incident Management and Learning Education with a significant focus on innovation and predictive analytics.

In addition, the role also provides direction and leadership in managing the PSS HSSE technician team to ensure high performance and safe delivery for the business. Since the HSSE Professional Shared Services team is virtual and geographically dispersed, a proven ability to lead remote teams while fostering teamwork and innovative thinking is essential.

Working closely with colleagues within the Global HSSE Professional Shared Services Team: Operations Assurance, Global Security, Risk, Ethics & Compliance, and with the operational business units; this individual will drive best practices in incident investigations and learning techniques to improve HSSE systems, processes, and culture to prevent repeat occurrences.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Embraces Wood strategic purpose, goals, and objectives and translates these into practical concepts relevant to HSE management
  • Leads project teams consisted of cross-functional staff
  • Effectively lead and manage Wood's HSSE learning and investigation activities by motivating, encouraging, and inspiring a team of efficient and ethical investigations/ auditing professionals and be responsible for the continual development of individual performance capabilities and capacities within this team.
  • Be accountable for the ongoing management, execution, and continuous improvement of the Wood HSSE Learning and Investigation Management Standard and process, including tailoring the investigation process to the risk rating and complexity of the incident.
  • Develops blending of quantitative and qualitative learnings for a clear story to apply for future experiences to stop re-occurrences of HSSE related incidents
  • Interfaces and collaborates with Professional Services Center's Learning and Investigation Managers
  • Conducts training for field operations and other teams
  • Supports Business Development and Proposals department
  • Ensures HSE Management Systems are monitored and in compliance
  • Ensures compliance with audit protocols
  • Promotes HSE best practices in the office and on projects
  • Supports HSE presentation needs to clients (internal and external)
  • Effectively communicates learnings through mastery of various media and platforms across operational and functional layers

Skills / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in relevant technical discipline or HSSE management; Membership of Recognized Industry body
  • 8+ years of experience in HSE, Learning, or a related field
  • Proficiency of management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 18001)
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Expert knowledge of incident management and learning education with a key focus on innovation and predictive analytics
  • Excellent ability to communicate technical information to a diverse audience
  • Knowledge of HSE standards and legal requirements
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of management techniques, department procedures, and requirement
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills
