Job Summary

We are searching for an ECHO Sonographer III - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will perform high-quality and complex echocardiographic exams.

Responsibilities

Responsibility A: Ensures the design, implementation and evaluation of an orientation process that focuses on knowledge, skills and relationships Implements and evaluates on an annual basis, an orientation pathway for each job as measured by feedback from leadership team. Individualizes the orientation pathways to meet the specific learning needs of staff, as measured by feedback from orientees, preceptors, and leadership team. Creates and maintains orientation schedules and accurately inputs preceptor and orientee schedules. Ensures that appropriate communication has occurred regarding orientation schedules, as measured by feedback fromorientees, preceptors, and leadership team. Acts as a role model in building supportive and collaborative work relationships with new employees, as measured by feedback from staff, orientee, preceptors, and leadership team. Reviews and discusses with orientee and manager the orientee's progress at least weekly, as measured by feedback from preceptors, orientees, and leadership team. Monitors orientation process and identifies and improves problematic trends, as measured by preceptor, staff, orientee, and leadership team feedback.Responsibility B: Coordinates/Conducts required training to close performance gaps in knowledge and skills Uses organizational policies and procedures, specific performance improvement data and accrediting and regulatory standards to determine performance gaps, as measured by leadership team feedback. Develops and/or implements required specific training that assists in closure of performance gaps, as measured by leadership team feedback. Evaluates, documents, and reports training outcomes.Responsibility C: Orients and develops preceptors Develops, implements, and sustains a unit-based process for the orientation, professional development, and support of preceptors, as measured by feedback from preceptors, orientees and leadership team. Coordinates the assignment of orientees to preceptors, serves as a resource for preceptors, and provides coaching and support to preceptors who are dealing with difficult orientee situations, as measured by preceptor and orientee feedback. Reviews orientation paperwork to ensure submission of complete, accurate and timely documentation of competence assessment and validation, as measured by personnel audit reports and leadership team feedback.Responsibility D: Coordinates the clinical experience for students/cardiology fellows Implements a process to facilitate a positive and effective clinical experience for students/cardiology fellows, as measured by feedback from students, faculty and leadership team observation. Coordinates the orientation of students/cardiology fellows to the lab, as measured by feedback from students/faculty. Provides feedback to staff who are serving as preceptors for students/cardiology fellows, as measured by feedback from buddies and from leadership team observation.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma from a school of ultrasound (e.g., Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or a bachelor's degree in biological science Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer with Sonography Canada Minimum of 5 years' experience as an echo sonographer with two (2) years in a pediatric environment
