Compensation Manager (Remote Eligible)

Job Description:

  • Our preference is to fill this position within the Indianapolis metro area but we're open to this being a fully remote opportunity.

We are looking for a Compensation Manager to join our Total Rewards team to be a key thought leader and further develop our global compensation strategy. This role reports into our Vice President of Total Rewards.

As a Compensation Manager, you will serve as a key leader in the Total Rewards team and interact regularly with the HR team as well as key business leaders. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic compensation professional with a knack for getting things done. You will need to have both strategic and hands-on experience. This position is a great opportunity to make an impact and to provide vision and direction around strategic compensation program delivery.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • You will provide thought leadership in KAR's compensation function to effectively design, implement, administer and manage the compensation strategy, philosophy, programs, policies, and initiatives

  • You will partner with the HR team and key business leaders to manage, consult and guide compensation decisions

  • You will identify, assess and execute on-going compensation process improvement

  • You will participate in compensation surveys and analyze market data and help manage benchmarking activity

  • You will manage and respond to inquiries from managers, HR Business Partners and recruiters to provide market analysis, information and advice tailored to each unique situation

  • You will lead the design of compensation programs and frameworks, including base pay and incentive programs

  • You will design compensation communication, statements, tools and processes for recruiting, managers, employees and other key partners

  • You will create expert analysis and modeling as needed for program design, business-specific benchmarking and pay range creation, and impact analysis

  • You will be a key thought leader on Total Rewards initiatives

  • You will provide thought leadership for KAR's evolving internal job architecture and structure

  • You will ensure pay practices are compliant with requirements in the countries where we operate

  • Serve as a mentor for less experienced team members

  • Other duties as assigned. Sales compensation experience a plus

Educational Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field required with five (5) to ten (10) years of compensation experience required

  • You have experience with job evaluation, salary structure design and market pricing

  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft suite, notably Excel and Power Point

  • You must be inquisitive and must possess problem-solving skills and a strong business acumen

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to interact with all levels of an organization and diverse cultures; ability to build productive relationships

  • Must be able to work independently while contributing to the team

  • Workday and MarketPay experience is a plus

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation, or working towards the designation preferred

  • Availability to work onsite at the Global HQ in Carmel, IN preferred
